Yeah, or mabye someone'd team-up with namco to make a game called "Puck Hunt" so that vandals could do the dirty work (no pun intended ROFL).

I bet I'll be the only person to post that the Sega version is actually more fun than the NES version ;) Dare I say that it's rad?

Considering the time, I'd say it was just groovy.

Double ditto. I also had now knowledge of this. Sega version looks more interested with that sniper rifle.

OK, everyone raise your hand if you killed thos ducks at point blank range at least once when you played! *Raises hand* :P

If it's a less dorky gun that you're looking for (as far as the NES version goes), just call-up the guy who did THIS!:

Wow....well, this could very well be a copyright lawsuit that was overlooked by a 16 year gap perhaps?

I wonder what David Rosen has to say about this, I mean he probably knew....1969 was a big year for Sega. Didn't Gulf and Western Enterprises purchase Sega that year as well?

I am currently "Laughing Out Loud", "Rolling On The Floor Laughing", and "Laughing My Ass Off' in a totally groovy fashion as well.

Seriously, though, this really surprises me, and a coincidence doesn't seem very likely.

If anyone could have sued, it would be Nintendo. Sega copied them. Before Nintendo did video games, they had a converted bowling alley where people played shooting games like Hogan's Alley and iirc, Duck Hunt (you shot down the alley). Many years later, these were converted to NES games. Source: Power Up: How Japanese Videogames Gave the Industry an Extra Life

While we're on the subject of Duck Hunt, has an official thread about the game been made yet? If not then I'll do one :)

Anybody have a picture of the actual game, not just an artist rendering?
