One thing they did to be well known in Japan was give away free copies of Super Mario Bros, except it had stuff in it that related to the radio station. The game was titled All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros, only 1,000 copies of this game was created.
Anyone got it? Spent years now looking for one online.

Another almost unknown SMB game...the disk image is out there, though, so all can play on emus or the real thing.

Well, this is not an "unknown" game for any Famicom/Famicom Disk system lover, this game is known for more than 15 years now!
I posted a picture here,as requested:

Of course it is. Most people just don't know about it. Like the PC88 Mario games, they are unheard of by most people.

I'm not afraid of admitting I didn't know about this game, didn't know about the Hudson Mario games either until the thread the other day.
I used to fancy myself a know it all when it came to gaming, then I met this site.........

And while we're on the subject, what's with that odd Japanese Yoshi's Cookie derivative?
See also http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/annsmb for a little more information about ANN SMB.
Yoshi's Cookie "Oven Version" is a not for sale SFC game, sponsorized by an oven brand...that's all :)
Same for All Night Nippon SMB,sponsorized by radio, or Gradius Archimendes sponsorized by a restaurant chain...
Chamera Zelda is supposed to exist, since there is a Chamera Famicom system ( Chamera sponsorized Nintendo once, and they did a Famicom system with Chamera written on it )

I found the ROM once and couldn't make heads or tails of it. It's like Yoshi is supposed to go through random people's kitchens in search of ingredients or something.

So the game is no different? Does the cart look different?

I was just wondering if the Chamera version is different than the released version (if the cartridge looks different or if the game itself is any different).

According to my trusty famicom bible (Famicomplete)
There were 3000 copies made of All night japan super mario bros.
The charumera version of zelda is not a cartridge but a disk, extremely rare too as even famicomplete couldnt get a pic of it for their book.
The charumera famicom looks exactly like the nintendo version but on the front where the nintendo family computer sticker is, theres a gold & red sticker saying Myojo Charumera family computer & has a little mascot on the right hand side of the sticker.

Of course, I should have checked my Famicomplete. So no one knows if this game is any different from the Nintendo released version?

Hehe charumera zelda is rare but apparently not as rare as rockman 4 gold cart.
Only 8 copies in existance :D

What the! Gold RM4? Daaaaaamn. What was the occasion for this? Is just the cart different, or box and/or label too? I ask because I fear fake copies being made.

I remember talking to adol about the gold Rockman 4 many months ago. Found the mail now, he said it was worth $2000. I think thats crazy, just for a diffrent color and label. Box and manual looks just like retail too. Cant imagine this would be hard to fake, but there must be a way to check if its fake or not, or?
It is different because there was a compation and you had to design a boss character and the winners got them put in the game. I think it is why there are just 8 copies because the gold cartridge was made for them as a present. I guess it would be really difficult to fake. I don't think there is a rom of the game.

Ye, i read about that last night. Link (http://www.video-fenky.com/archives/000176.html).
But it doesnt say anything about being diffrent, only that people sent in ideas for how the bosses should look like.
Hiromi Uchida was a student in high school when she decided to submit an entry into the contest -- an entry that ended up becoming Ring Man in Mega Man 4.
Uchida's price was this gold-plated Rockman 4 cartridge -- of which I guess only 8 or so were made. "I was really surprised how hard Ring Man's level was when I first played it, but Ring Man himself turned out to be a really cool boss, so I was so happy," she writes
So i guess it is the retail game. But i hope someone can verify this :)
I did not know it was like that, thanks for helping. Maybe it is like the retail game afterall. There is a video that has got the gold cartridge on it. It has got All Night Nippon Super Mario Brothers on it too. The video is from a computer show in Japan, hope you like it.

Thanks for the video :) Damn that store looks sweet!
But OMFG, 590,000 YEN for Rockman 4 gold?? Thats like $5500 @_@ Its like the Enzuna Encounter for Famicom :) I mean, pay sick price for a small variation, game is the same.
Btw, importaku, that picture you posted earlier, is that your copy? If so, how much did you pay and how did you get it?
Well, sorry,i don't own Gold Rockman 4 cart, because i just don't have such money to spend in ONE game, especially when it is SO easy to fake..like Gold Z Gundam, like GOLD Dragon Ball Z 2...they're worth 100-500000 yens each, and can be SO easily be "faked"...
Rockman 4 was on auction for 500000 yens or so,didn't get a buyer...but 200-300000 yens seems more realistic..Now HOW to confirm there's only 8 copies in existence,mm??
Same goes with many FC collectors :)
about Charumera, check your Famicomplete, you'll see the system..And yes, never saw a pic of the Zelda game either: )
I prefer to spend such money in a PC engine colelctor like Power Console, or Gold Yokai Dochuuki :) ( that one went for 300000 yens or so some months ago in auction, but it didn't had the "special plate",then it could even be a $1 Yokai Dochuukiyou just gold painted...
It's not worth the "risk"

LOL i wish it was mine but sadly no.
Yeah i can fully see the risk in buying somthing like that, but if people are gonna fake somthing nothing will stop them. I have seen very convincing fake copies of sapphire on PCE that almost looked 100% perfect.
Personally id have the yoshis cookie variant as i love cooking games. Does anyone have a pic of the box for that as i have never seen one for real.
Sapphire is easy to recognize for an eye who had seen original one for years...if you want to know the difference,i can give you 2 points that are VERY easy to check...on the CD,and on the seal
For rockman,the problem is you don't take the "risk" for a $300 game,but for a $5500 game!!
And it is a way bigge risk, unless i can see and touch the cartridge by myself, check condition of the painting,etc...because except the painting,it is the SAME box/cover/manual than original release...

Wow! That Super Potato video is awesome. In the book Power Up: How Japanese Videogames Gave the Industry an Extra Life (I think that's the right title), the author describes all the different chain stroes for videogame and describes how to get to them in Akihabara and some other locations. He even breaks down how to get the best prices and a bunch of other stuff...excellent section of the book...very in-depth.
I wish I could understand what they are saying, but I could only catch about 20 words, half of which were English, heh heh.

I was at Super Potato in Akihabara on Tuesday and I didn't buy a thing. Last year when I was there I bought some Cassette Vision and Super Cassette Vision games for $10-$15 each but this time nothing was less than $25. Not just the ones in the case either, the junk in the basket on the counter was that much too. It's fun to look around there though. That place is nuts. I had better luck at some other stores that will remain nameless. My friends were selling a copied disk of Super Mario All Night Nippon at CGE. There's also a Mario game about how to knit a sweater. I saw two of them for $250-$400. I bought a weird cassette Super Mario game in the box for some Japanese computer (PC and some numbers I think). It's in a Sea Mail box.
