I was playing some GBA bomberman tournament earlier tonight and absent mindedly went into quest mode instead of battle mode. I've played this for a bit, made it through the first dungeon, and I have to admit that I really don't like it. I love battle mode though. While I was in quest mode I kept thinking why did they even bother wasting time and money on this crap? is there anyone that even bothers with it?

Is there a bomberman with a good quest mode?

Dunno about anyone else, but I enjoyed all 3 on N64.

Same here. Out of all of them on every system, I actually liked Jetters the most. I know I'm in the minority there, but i spent a TON of hours finding all the items and unlocking everything.

I remember playing a bomber man (i think) game for PSX. Dont remember the title, but it was in japanese. It was a 3d adventure game.

I was alwasy quite partial to Bomberman 94 (PC-Engine)/Mega Bomberman (Genesis). I've only played the Genesis version, but the single player mode is pretty good. There's a bit of terrain variety in the game to keep it feeling fun and fresh.

another vote for Bomberman 94/Mega Bomberman.

Saturn Bomberman's quest mode was neat, but it really, really, really needed a save function.

Hmmm I'll have to try some of these out.

I remember playing the n64 one and not being very impressed, but I'll try it again. Same with bomberman 94 (actually I never played that, but I'll try it for the first time).

I wish I had a saturn, I'd get saturn bomberman in a heart beat.

I liked Bomberman Tournament on the GBA. I distinctly remember walking thru Costco and stuff with my mom playing it leveling up all my critters (to which they are all as powerful as they can be). I really wanted to like the ones on the cube, but I never really played them a ton, just a few levels apiece.

I loooooove the quest mode on Saturn Bomberman. Especially as you can have two players on it - it's so much fun!

There's loads of little jokes and quirks in the levels, and they're all beautifully designed - it's brilliant!

For a console I'd say Bomberman 64 was damn fun.

For a handheld, Bomberman Tournament no question.

Another one for Bomberman Hero on N64. This game is my favorite non-traditional bomberman game. The level designs are great and the graphics are very crisp. An all around great experience.

Really enjoyed the quest mode for Bomberman 64. Very deep, lots of little secrets and costume pieces to find.

Do you mean for quest mode or battle mode?

Here's another vote for Bomberman 64. I'll vote for the original NES Bomberman as well since that's the game that started it all and is a game I actually finished.

Personally, I liked Bomberman Tournament's single player. Anyway, I'll give anohter vote for the N64 Bomberman games. Bomberman 64 was quite short if you tried to blaze through it, but trying to collect all those cards was a daunting task, yet quite fun. Bomberman Hero was quite a diversion (mainly puzzle to mainly platform) from all the other games, yet was still very good. I've come to find that companies mess up when they change play mechanics in sequals, but Hudson Soft didn't here. Finally, Second Attack had a nice inventory-like system where you collected different bombs that could help you with different tasks and performed different damage to enemies. There was also a monster-raising system with Pommy, but I don't know if too many people like that or not.

So, yes, try out the N64 games.

Out of the Bomberman games I've played and own, Bomberman 64 and Bomberman Hero's are really fun games and worth grabbing for a few bucks or so. The multi-player mode is really fun and quite fast, like speed rounds. I've tried to play the adventure parts and they are a bit more difficult. It's been a few years since I last tried but recall it being a bit wierd and didn't quite understand what tasks needed to get done to progress to later stages. By all means though it is interesting and after a few attempts at each level (Or being cheap and using a FAQ sheet) you'll advance through the N64 games.

The Saturn title is one I've been trying to get but is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to on-line dealers and auctions. I'm hoping it'll pop up around here in the near future or so.

One really great Bomberman game is the one with Wario. It's for the original Gameboy and is also worth picking up. It's just one big match battle.

Eh... Wario Blast is clearly the original Game Boy Bomberman re-tooled slightly. Things just became a little bit too easy after you gained the Trounce ability, which let you stun enemies. The bosses were pretty cool, though.

I wish I could have tried Bomberman GB instead. It was one of the last few B&W Game Boy games, and had a whole Indiana Jones-type theme going for it. Seemed to have quite a bit more variety.

I like the N-Gage bomberman quest mode... but apparently i'm in the minority... :embarrassed:

I never did beat the quest mode on Bomberman Tournament but I did enjoy it. Loved the wide areas.

Bomberman 64 rocked playing the single player game. Much bigger stages and challenging bosses, and two diffferent endings. Multuiplayer, however, sucked IMO.

And Super Bomberman 1-2 on the SNES both had every enjoyable main games. Plus, SB1 had co-op. I love tackling that one stage with all the clone Bomberman with a buddy. Gooid times. 8-)
