As if I weren't excited enough! X_x Nintendo must be doing something right for all these third party developers to be jumping onboard with stuff like this.

Wow, that is VERY good news. I am tired of the PSP getting all these great compilations. Who doesn't want to play these on their actual TV? The PSP screen is great and all, but it is still a handheld.

On the other hand, I don't think the Wii controller offers a good method of play for 2D gaming though. It will be great for 3D games, but 2D will need to use the standard method to be precise enough to work well.

a rev controller turned sideways looks an awful lot like an NES controller... i dont think its a coincidence

Now there's a reasong for me to get a Wii. I think I'll get one now, and maybe forget about getting an Xbox and PSP for the time being. Very good news :D

Hopefully you won't be force to wave your hand around just to play. If it can be played with a "standard" controller set up I'll think about getting it.

/me shits pants

just the fact that it has MS 1-5 and X (and maybe 6) makes this a necessary purchase.

score one for nintendo.

Nintendo never ceases to impress me lately :D

Although this concerns me:

Best of all, these games have been enhanced to take full advantage of Wii's innovative free-hand style controller, which translates gestures made by players into on-screen movement.
I really hope they include a standard controller mode. The idea of controlling your character using gestures sounds more frustrating than fun.

Freaking sweet!! Even though I have Metal Slug X and 4,5, I'll be sure to snag this baby.

I would have to assume that a traditional control option will be available, but the real challenge of this game will be to translate everything to the Yippie! controller. It's crucial to demonstrate how current and classic games can work on this system. There will probably a couple more titles at E3, and these are the titles we'll need to watch closely, and see if the GollyGeeWhiz can be fully embraced by the development community.

A handful of first-party games won't sustain the Poopie anymore than it did with N64 and GC. The third parties need to be won over. If Metal Slug can succeed, then all bets are off.

Ignore this post. I was trying to figure out if "wii" was being filtered, based on Daniel's post above.

Slug is one of those games that despite beating it so many times never gets old for me. I don't mind re-buying 3-5 and X even though I own them on the current gen systems.

Woo Nintendo!

Agreed. I ran to this thread the second I heard (elsewhere) that this game is supposed to take "full advantage" of "Wii [dys]functionality."

Dear god, waving your hand around to aim the gun? No thanks. NO THANKS AT ALL

ahem...yeah, we'll wait and see.

No, I was just being snarky. :P

Best to just get all that out of my system before it gets too old...which should be any moment now.

I still have a weak collection number in my Gamecube department, but I'm still debating about getting a Wii. Since I don't own a PS2 it's tempting to get a PS3 to play 1, 2, & 3 (Since I do always have my PSone hooked up). I'd doubt I land with a Xbox360 due to my lack of interest in it and the other Xbox although there are some nice games on it.

Back at hand with the topic though, I've never got the chance to own a Metal Slug game because it's either TOO expensive when I find them or I lack the system to play them on (Hince why awhile back I wanted a NeoGeo...). But with this nice release of information it's swaying me a bit closer to getting a Wii around launch. If I have some spare money then I'll also get a PS3 whenever it comes out.

That... be... BITCHIN'.

I never did get around to buying the Metal Slugs as they came out for PS1 or the new consoles, I missed out... damn lack of money... but a second chance! YES!
