After many many years, this game just entered my head and now I really want to play it. I still have the original floppy disks, but unfortunately no Floppy drive and no DOS machine. Is there a way to play it on Windows XP. I tried googling it, but didn't find any XP versions. I did find some cool videos of some Real Incredible Machines. Heres a link if you want to check them out.

Any help would be appreciated. Is there somewhere I can download a version that will work with XP? Thanks for you help in advance.

There's a program out there called dosbox that can help you, I think.

Abandonia.com is a good place to get DOSBox info and the type of game that you're looking to play.

About a year ago, I got the Incredible Machine, and The Return of the Incredible machine for a $1 each in "the 1 spot" at our local Target. They work on xp with new additional help. Maybe you should cruise some dollar stores and see if they have any.

Incredible Machine 3 will work under Windows XP with Windows 95 compatibility/256 color mode; I don't know about the others, but I've found sites which say that you can use DosBOX to play the game.

There was actually a new version of The Incredible Machine released recently: Return of the Incredible Machine Contraptions in 2000, and The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions in 2001. And yes, it's roughly the same as the old DOS game.

But yeah, try DOSBox first. If it's too complicated for you to figure out, http://dosbox.sourceforge.net also has plenty of frontends.

And of course if you really like the game, you could purchase your own copy of The Even More Incredible Machine from http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/evenmorepj.htm (which ought to run in DOSBox as well).

If not dosbox, maybe Virtual PC?

Only problem though is that when you try to download anything you get the "Oops, there has been an error!" page.

I haven't figured any way around that problem.

Get DOSbox from their official website at:

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/

In most cases when that happens, you're running a firewall (usually Norton Internet Security or E-Trust) that prevents your browser from sending referrer URLs. Go to http://www.stardrifter.org/cgi-bin/ref.cgi and it will tell you if you're sending a referrer. (I answer this question a lot...)

thanks guys, I'm gonna have to check those links out. I didn't know there were new incredible machine games. I'm going to check those ones out. PC games that are a few years old are usually pretty cheap too. I'm gonna look into that. thanks again.
