Turbo Duo won't play cds

My duo won't read a CD, it tries to read it and the drive spins, it's kinda loud though after a few seconds it says please set cd, it reads Hu cards but not CDs, can anyone offer any advice as to what's wrong?

You probably need a new laser. You could try tweaking the T.Gain pot on the laser, but you NEED to note it's exact resistance setting first. This has never worked satsifactorily for me.

The lasers aren't exactly easily available. When I buy them for repairs, I buy in large lots, and import from overseas.

I can't sell lasers loose (sorry). I do install the ones I have though.

If you can find a Duo that doesn't power up or something, you could try a swap.

Would a bad laser account for how noisy the CD drive is? If I ship it to you are you able to try to fix it for me? PM me for a price quote and the like, I'd hat to see this go to waste, I paid $139.99 for it and the store that sold it to me later told me that they knew it was defective and sold it anyway, so I'd hate to lose my money here.

Noise could be a lot of things. Bad assembly, slipping gears, bent/busted transport. Could be minor, could be major.

Make sure you are testing with a real disc, and not a burn as well.
