Comments - I'm obviously quite giddy about this game, but I'm not entirely digging the new urban environments. I could've did without them. But hey, no sidekicks so far! Huzzah!

this looks like a return to the original game, no wimpy annoying companions, and sonic has his `attitude` back. I hope this game makes the series cool again, id lost hope after playing all those annoying tails and knuckles levels in sonic adventure 2

Looks like Sonic Adventure with better graphics. Can't say anything more than that for now.

No guns this time, please.

I love the look and style. It looks so... edgy! Hopefully they can get the controls sorted (something simple, if you please) and freshen up the gameplay.

Sonic looks like he is going post apocolyptic on us. I don't think he's ever done that before. Sonic meets FOTNS LOL

Game looks sexy! Hopefully, all the levels will be fast paced and the camera won't be so crappy.

And I sceond this: no guns.

i dont get it, why have a cartoon-like character in a realistic world?

My sweet plan:

Turn on Genesis. Play Sonic game. Feel joy without having to hope and pray that, for once, they get a new Sonic game right, but ultimately be left disappointed.

They should have made it a 2D sonic with bitchin' 3D graphics.

BTW, I think the urban landscapes look cool, but only because it looks post-apocalyptic.

That ruined city reminds me of a few areas in City of Heroes.

Those shots didn't impress me, much preferred the shots released before of the "green hill zone" type level.

On that shot with all the missiles being fired from that mech i wanted to circle the missiles and fire like you do in Rez, it was very strange, like a instinctive reaction

Looks like Shadow the Hedgehog to me.

"Sonic Team" or whoever the hell Sega has making these games needs to quit with the Sonic "in the real world" thing. It worked so much better in the past, when Sonic was just a critter in a naturalistic cartoon setting. Honestly, even kids scoff at this sort of thing. Keep Sonic in the Fantasy Zone where he belongs damnit!

Maybe THEN people will buy a Sonic game before it drops to $20.

Pass.

Sega, Sonic doesn't work in a "realistic" world. Accept it and move on. All this "post-apocolyptic" crap was done to death in 1999. It's just annoying now.

Hmm this really isnt what I was expecting.

Where the hell are the Green Hill zones and all the trademark Sonic level designs.

Sega just isnt SEGA anymore and Sonic Team used to be one of the top development teams in the industry what the hell happened?

I do like the look of Sonic in this but THAT level really doesnt belong in a traditional Sonic game , I mean why does every old-school game character seamingly have to go the mad max route? :/

The look of it reminds me a lot of the new Metal Gear Solid that will be on the PS3...and that isn't a good thing. Sonic, just like Mario, needs to be in a setting that is kinda fun and even quirky, not war-torn. I can see them giving Sonic something similar to Snake's CQC moves that he had on Metal Gear Solid 3.

Heh, I can only hope this is hyperbole

But hey, slitting people's throats in a Sonic game, always good times eh?

Being a Sonic fan i can say that this game does look real, still i liked Sonic back on mobius sted of our world, but if its Sonic Solo, ill play it.If its not well ill play it for a few hours and then let it set in the closet and well wait till next play. Also the 2D Games were the best....im going to turn on my Genesis now and hear the chemical plant music........ah soothing LOL :)

Looks like we're divided between the supporters of this new supposed edgy look, and the detractors who go for the old style of 2D natural Sonic we grew up with [like myself].

Having stated that, it'll probably suck bad.

Sonic Team? Like Atari, it's just a name that no longer means what it used to, a shill of its former glory.

Sonic doesn't look like he belongs in those environments. Wierd...I saw the preview months back where he was in relatively Sonic-esque places, like a jungle/ruins. I guess they'll have a wide variety of situations.

Regardless, it looks VERY cool.

Wii/Revolution is getting its own Sonic game from Naka. What we know about it? Nada.

Exactly my thoughts when seeing the cities. Also, No bad voice acting as well.

Nope, not without some pretty drastic decreases in landscape detail (if the Wii's roughly as powerful as an Xbox, and if the Red Steel shots are a decent guide). You'd think the Wii would be a good system for this kind of gameplay, though.

This game is a prime example of what is wrong with the next generation.

The 3D Sonic Games originating from the style on the Dreamcast were all bright, vibrant, and colorfull.

I like games that are stylistic and render real world objects in a unique way. A sonic game should have rich blue skies, lush green grass, and rocks that have a mixture or oranges, browns, and reds.

I don't understand why as time goes on, and hardware gets more powerfull, that the colors get completly desaturated. This new sonic game looks dull and boring. If people thought the "guns" in Shadow the Hedgehog were out of place, Sonic in a realistic world of buildings and smoke is just as off the wall.

The good thing is, if I really want to play some 3D Sonic, I have PLENTY of titles already on my Dreamcast and GameCube to satisfy my cravings. Since Sonic games have high replay value, these new NextGen Sonic titles can do whatever they want. I have enough fantastic Sonic games to last a life time.

However it is dissapointing to see where video games are headed. Some people might like this new look, but to me it is a travesty.

What the hell... A Grey Hedgehog?....

Sonic....Shadow...and....Shade I guess?

The only thing I see wrong in this, is the fact that Naka promised to re-invent Sonic the Hedgehog, and now all I see is another Sonic Adventure clone with mutliple pointless characters...

yep ive never liked any of the other characters, be honest who actually ever wants to play as anyone other than sonic?
Basicaly sonic team are lazy, instead of making loads of interesting levels just decided to chuck in loads of boring adventure, shooting, chao, teamwork, emerald digging nonsense  .
The pointless wandering around between levels spoilt sonic adventure, at least you can choose to play levels whenever you like once the game is finished.
The crap tails and knuckles sections really spoilt sonic adventure 2
Sonic heroes is a stupid concept which i couldnt be bothered to play for more than half an hour, and i havent played any new sonic game since.
Sonic team need to stop churning out rubbish every year, and spend a good solid two to three years perfecting a sonic PLATFORM game
