I just bought a Neo Geo 4 slot arcade cab, but the mother board doesn't play some of the sound effects like firing, hitting, some of the instruments in the BGmusic, and the digitized voices. I plugged a friends mother board into my cab and it worked fine. Once I was playing metal slug x and the sound fx came back for about 5 seconds or so, then it left again and never came back since. I would much rather fix the mother board that I have than buy a new one. Has anyone had this problem occur. What could be causing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to www.neo-geo.com/forums and ask at the Technical Support section. You'll get a lot of posts there from people who know what they are talking about.

the problem is that since the neogeo board is like 10 years old atleast the caps on it have dried out. replace all the capacitors on your neogeo mainboard and the problem should be fixed. (note capkit is not this, capkit is for the monitor), if you arent skilled in soldering take it to a repairshop and tell them to dismantle the unit and change all the caps on the board (about 30-40) also while youre at it replace the old NiCd battery with a somewhat more fresh one like a NiMH battery.

you can use any battery size you wish aslong as its the same voltage.

and the caps must have the same Farad value but voltage can be the same or HIGHER! NOT LOWER!!!
