My main question is should I get one? I was thinking about it I was seeing what they cost on eBay and I am really thinking about it. I also looked at some of the games there seems to be alot of fun games on it. So can anyone help me out?
Also on another topic (I did not want to make 2 threads) can someone give me suggestions for Dreamcast games I have a Dreamcast but no games. I sold the ones I did have. I am planning on getting both of the Sonic Adventures and Power Stone again is there any other really good games for the Dreamcast?

Anything in this list (http://dreamcast.ign.com/index/choice.html) should satisfy you :D
Some games of particular note:
1. Soul Calibur
2. Bomberman Online
3. Capcom vs. SNK 2
4. Jet Set Radio
5. Chu Chu Rocket
My faves are Chu Chu Rocket and Bomberman Online. Chu Chu Rocket is a blast - but you'll likely blow through it pretty quick.
As for a Saturn, yes. Get one.

There are lots of fun Dreamcast games.
Some of my favorite are Soul Calibur and one game that's not talked about nearly enough, TOY COMMANDER. Oh man, do I love me some Toy Commander.
Evolution is pretty fun if you like dungeon crawling RPGs.

Saturn's go for dirt cheap on Ebay. I was watching an auction with TWO Saturns and it ended at $0.99 with no bids...lol And shipping was only $10.

I'd suggest getting one especially if you are a collector. There's a lot of great titles to grab and play with hours of fun. I recently got a game called Grid Runner and it's really intertaining. There's some hidden gems for the system and worth looking into.
BTW: I'm sure there's already been some sort of thread already created on this type of subject. Maybe using the searching function will get it for you. Sometimes digging up old threads can be helpful.

If you're getting a Saturn, it's a better idea to get something that'll let the Saturn to play imports because most of the good Saturn games are import only.

Shenmue 1 & 2 <-- some of the best games ever!
Power Stone 1 & 2
Toy Commander
Soul Calibur
Atleast start with those!

As a former Saturn collecter, I wouldn't get one. Why? because I feel a lot of the Saturn classics will be emulated on next gereration platforms.
The PS2 has already gotten remakes of Die Hard Arcade and Panzer Dragoon. Those were two of Saturns best games. It's only a matter of time before we see remakes of Panzer Saga , Burning Rangers, Radiant Silvergun, ect. made for new consoles and sold for a lot more cheaper than buying the old versions. Plus those Saturn cd's are getting up thier in age and could die at any time.

Maybe i am being stupid here but does that mean that there is no way of preserving cd based games giving cd based systems an experation date?

Get a Saturn if you want to mod it and play all region games. if so, it is worth it.
If you don't want to mod, it's still worth it, but not nearly as much. many of its quality games are JP-only... it's like "Saturn 2"

As far as the Dreamcast goes I decided to start collecting Dreamcast games. I am a Kiss fan so the game Kiss Physco Circus the Devil Child. It was factory sealed so I thought that was good 13 bucks I thought it was a good deal. I can't wait to check it out.

I can think of many better games than Rayman 2 on the DC (or Saturn)..
Crazy Taxi, Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia, PSO, Sonic Adventure, Samba de Amigo, Shenmue, Shenmue II, Jet Grind Radio, Space Channel 5, House of the Dead 2, Typing of the Dead (fun!), Under Defeat, Border Down, Psyvariar 2, Rez, Soul Calibur, tons of Capcom fighters.. and more I'm forgetting I'm sure! =)
Get a couple of the above, you'll have a blast

I actually just sold my entire Saturn collection two weeks ago (including Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes, Saturn Bomberman, Dragon Force, etc). I think it's worth getting one, I certainly enjoyed mine. Although imho many of the the better games are pricey or imorts, and most of the cheaper common games haven't held up that well. Still, there are games like Nights that are cheap, common, AND fantastic that make it worthwhile.
Dreamcast favs:
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Phantasy Star Online
Skies of Arcadia
Soul Calibur
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Shenmue 1&2
Bangaio
Mars Matrix

The better Saturn games are indeed imports.
I love my Saturn more than my Dreamcast...and i remember wanting a Dreamcast and not wanting a Saturn.
Funny how arcade perfect ports make you change your mind.
As for Dreamcast, i've gotten alot of mileage out of those "Beats of Rage" games.

get the saturn but make sure you get get JP Saturn or even better region moded Saturn, not the chipped unit. Unlike other console mod chip on Saturn does only one thing playing pirated CD-R.
Having region moded Saturn means you can play vast library of JP titles plus handful of US/PAL titles - i.e. PDS.
I've been Saturn collector for a long time and selling my entire collection would be unthinkable inc. my joy and pride pre-production Prototype Saturn console that I only saw one another in my decade of collecting

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with my Saturn. Here's a few of what I'd recommend:
Daytona USA
NiGHTS Into Dreams (one of my favorite games... EVER)
Three Dirty Dwarves (I think either this rubbed too many people the wrong way, or not too many people really played it, but I loved it)
I haven't played many imports for the system though, those are US releases (and from what I gather, all are relatively common). As far as Dreamcast goes, excellent choice of a system, and here's a few to play and fall in love with:
Capcom Vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000
Chu Chu Rocket
Feet Of Fury (a DDR-styled rhythm game with all original tunes, it's an independant release, so check out the Goat Store, www.goatstore.com I believe)
Jet Grind Radio (and the second release for the XBox, Jet Set Radio Future)
King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999
Power Stone
Sonic Adventure
I can't in good conscience recommend Shenmue though; I thought it was just boring as all get-out. It's one of those hit-or-miss titles, either you love it or you hate it. I don't think I've ever met someone who thought it was just "OK."

saturn is definately worth getting. lots of sleeper games.
nights
daytona usa
contra
virtua fighters 2
if the third parties would have supported it , it would have given the ps1 some hella competition. as far as specs go it blows away the ps1
now the dreamcast has many many excellent games. the thing about the DC is it has games that do what many other game devs seem to have forgotten , make the games fun.
one game i love on the system that i have heard others dog on is zombie revenge. it really reminds of a modernized ikari warriors /rambo first blood part 2 game.
cannon spike is another good one.
shenmue to me is without question the best game on DC and maybe on any system ever made. i had got to a point with new games that i would play them for a little while and get bored and never finish them. then i got my hands on this game and a dc and remembered why i loved video games.
of course phantasy star
lots of good racing games on DC.
DOA 2 and soul caliber are two of the best fighters of all time imo.
if you like gun games there are a few noteworthy ones on dc. crimson ox and house of the dead are 2 that come to mind.
the sonic adventure games are great.
not to mention you can run linux on your DC, there are several homebrew games (some of wich have become small professional projects), there is a large community that still vigorously support it. and even today there are a couple of games (even though they are japanese) that still get ported to DC from naomi arcades. i think under defeat was the latest.
after i got my DC i hated myself for not having got one when they were still making them and officially supported by sega.

The Sailor Moon mod?
I might give that a shot since the MD game wasn't that bad (control was a tad stiff) but the game was quite colorful for a Genesis game and fighting on top of the semi-trucks was kinda neat.

Saturn = no
Dreamcast = yes
Skies of Arcadia is my favorite rpg from the post 16 bit era, so if your into rpg's grab that one for the DC. I said no to the Saturn cause I don't think the games are aging very well. Although I do enjoy Shining Force III and Dragon Force.

I think people tend to exaggerate the Saturn import scene... it sure has its share of great imports, but still, the majority of worthwhile games are available outside Japan.
Some non-import recommendations:
Tempest 2000 -- Don't listen to what some silly people say; the CD soundtrack makes this better than the Jaguar version.
Enemy Zero -- Remains one of my favorite horror games. Your enemies are invisible, so you have to rely on audible clues.
Street Fighter Collection -- Arcade-perfect versions of the best SF games: SSF2, SSF2 Turbo, and Alpha 2 Gold.
Shinobi Legions -- The last 2d Shinobi, this one focuses more on swords than shurikens. A lot of elements of Legions were brought into Shinobi PS2.
Slam 'N Jam '96 -- This plays a lot like NBA Jam, but offers enough to distinguish itself too.
Herc's Adventures -- A great overhead action-adventure game from LucasArts with a Greek mythology theme. There's not a lot to say about it, except that it's just really good.
Norse by Norsewest -- This sequel to Lost Vikings is even more addictive than the first was. The level design is really genius.
Dark Savior -- Kind of the spiritual sequel to LandStalker. Just as good, if not better.

Yeah, I think the US library is pretty decent and certainly overly dismissed by Saturn fans. I also think people tend to exggerate Saturn imports as being... well, better than what they really are. As a diehard Saturn fan now in his casual Saturn fanfare stage, I have taken a step back and IMO, realized that these imports many make out to be great, aren't THAT great, and other games on other systems are just as good, if not better, and go for peanuts while these same Saturn "godly" imports can command 40-80.

The Sailor Moon mod?

Yup, the first game is going to be a completely reworked and enhanced remake of a mix of the first (Sailormoon) Super Famicom and Mega Drive beat 'em up. I mean totally overhauled - full rework of the control system, cinematics added, new stages, an actual story put into the game, full speech in the cutscenes and during gameplay (for all character variables - special attacks, damage, normal attacks, jumping, etc.) and so forth. It does lean more towards the Super Famicom game for the first half however.
Then there are four other games planed for release after it, three of which will be completely new - and then the big dream project which still may go ahead at the end.
If you don't have a Saturn you need to get one right away! Its one of my favorite systems. Make sure to get a Japanese one, or at least a black one with a region mod. You will definitely want to play import games.

Some people seem to forget having a Japanese Saturn is like having a Capcom arcade machine. Yes you can get most of these titles for PS1 but the majority don't look or play as well. Not to mention of course you have to use the PS1 controller which is crap for fighting games, compared to God's gift in controllers, the Saturn pad (except in durability). It is definitely worth the price. Even so, there really aren't THAT many Japanese games the average U.S. gamer will play. Don't forget, the games are almost all in Japanese. That makes many games and all RPG/text heavy games unplayable for those of us who don't know Japanese (Once I figured out how to play Dragon Force II through trial and error. It was fun but overall unfulfilling). If you like arcade fighters and shooters Jap Sat is where it's at (man that sounds gay).

Owning a Japanese Saturn is unecessary really. Booting imports on a Saturn is easier than any other system that has also has region locks.
The fact that you can just have an import boot cart like the ST-Key or Action Replay sitting in your saturn all the time, lets you boot up imports without having to swap discs. It is so great.
(I'm not trying to say people here didn't already know this I am just making conversation.)

Yeah, what were they thinking with the D-pad on the first gen? It seems like its main purpose is to shred your thumb meat. For some reason I still love those old ones but I never use them anymore. In fact, will those become collector's items soon? I hardly see them anymore and as most of us know the average Saturn controller can only handle 6 months of rabid gaming. Pretty soon there won't be too many Saturn controllers left, 1st or 2nd gen.
Reading your e-mag also reminds me that Fantasy Zone is available in Japan for the Saturn in arcade perfect glory. Too bad it didn't make it onto the Sega Ages disc. BTW nice mag - excellent read.

I didn't mean you actually have to have a Jpanese model Saturn. I just meant the ability to play Japanese games. Personally I take the Action Replay out of the Saturn when not playing Japanese games. I don't like to see the system dashboard if I don't have to.
Also you could argue that it's easier to play Mega Drive games on Genesis than Jap Saturn on U.S. Saturn. You don't have to buy anything, you just need a screwdriver.
