In GREAT shape!! I got it off Craigslist for $50, as it doesn't boot up.

Everything is plugged in, but when I flip the switch on top, the marquee lights up along with the coin things, and I hear a pop from the speaker... but that's it. It sits there and hums out the speaker.

Any ideas?

Will this work if I need a new supply? If not, can someone link me to one on ebay? I searched for 'jamma power' and found 9... but I want to make sure I get the right one!

I can't get this code to work...?

I'm not as experienced as a lot of the arcade folks here on DP, but that power supply should work just fine. They're very common... Have you invested in a multimeter yet? You could always test your existing power supply to see if it's putting out enough juice...

Nice score by the way... Cabinet looks to be in great shape! :)

I do have a multimeter, yes. I'll have to go in there and test it... though I'm not sure what to test! Just the -5, +5, and +12 on the power supply?

Test the +5 for starters... I think it's this one that powers the board. You can test it at the power supply, but you'll want to test it at the JAMMA connector as well to make sure the board is getting the proper voltage. I believe it drops a little bit from the power supply by the time it reaches the board. You want it to read approximately 5.05 by the JAMMA connector.

From what I hear, the +12 powers the sound & the -5 powers the coin door lights. I hope our fellow DP members will correct me if I'm wrong...

Have you tried coining it up and playing? It may be a monitor problem.

Like, put money in and see if I hear anything? No, haven't tried that... but I figured there would be boot up sounds like music or something!

Not all games will play sounds in "attract mode". I think on many games, you can select whether it plays sound here by way of dip switches on the pcb. Dropping in a credit or 2 is a good idea...

Awesome pickup! I'm jealous.

The coin mechanisms are there, but no wires going to them. According to the manual, the DIP switches are set on free play.

I tested the supply, and all the correct voltages are coming out.... hmmm

Then hit the start button and see if the game starts playing. If you hear sounds, (game is playing) then you've narrowed down the problem to the monitor.

If the dip switches are set wrong though (ie, not really on free play), you'll need to coin it up as mentioned above. If you hit the switches on the coin door and they're not working, there should be a service switch in there somewhere (might look like a spring loaded button) that you should be able to press to add credits.

I just fired it up in MAME and it makes all kinds of noise in attract mode.

Cool, but weak (meaning it's a further problem)

I'm sure it's a monitor board problem, as it smoked that fuse first.

Where can I get a new one (or used?)

I see you're in MA, where? I might be able to come take a look.

Well I isolated the problem to the monitor board. I found someone online who will fix it for $75 parts/labor/shipping. I'll have to wait till I can afford to spend $$ on games again though!

If you're close enough I could likely do it for less.

I am on the NH border in Townsend, MA.

About an hour and a half away. What's the exact model of the monitor? K7193? K7191?

Where would I find that?

NM...you have a K7000.

Dead easy monitor to work on.

Does the tube have any glow in the neck when you turn it on?

Not sure. The fuse blows before it gets a chance to come on. I even tried applying power to the board directly, but the fuse still blows.

Unplug the marquee fixture, the JAMMA harness from the board, AND power from the monitor. Replace the fuse and try again.

If it doesn't blow, it's one of those three things.

Do you have a digital multimeter? If not, now is the time to get one. MCM has one for $5.00 (http://www.mcminone.com) that'll do what you need.

Yes, I unplugged everything and the monitor fuse still blows. And yes I have a multimeter.

Okay, remove the AC power from the power supply and try again. If it blows yet again, you have a serious short somewhere. If it doesn't, your power supply is likely toast.

I disconnected the wires from the PSU and tested the terminals. All output the correct amount. I know the problem is with the monitor board, as if I plug that in to the AC alone, it still blows the fuse.

??? I thought you said that once you disconnected the JAMMA, the monitor and the marquee it still blew the main fuse.

Ah, the MONITOR fuse blows, not the main cabinet fuse.

Check the HOT - the Horizontal Output Transistor. If you don't know how to meter a transistor, do a Google search on "junction drop transistor check" and it should provide you with a wealth of knowledge.

Uh... at this point I think it's worth $75 to me to just have it fixed.

Sent it out today to be repaired! Took me long enough LOL

I'll post new pix when I get it running!

Got the monitor board back. Caps replaced, bad solder joints... bad traces... 2 fried IC's... it was in BAD shape!

Tested the isolation transformer and PSU... both are fine.

Now monitor comes up but shows jibberish. Somewhat like when you put a dirty NES game into the Nintendo. When you first turn it on you get a sound that dies out in a few seconds too.

So... looks like I have a bad game board too. Sigh.

Try cleaning the edge connector, reseating all the ROMs and if that doesn't work, reflowing the solder. At least the game screen comes up, you're halfway there.
