Have any of you played Final Fantasy XI?

I've been writing a review of our progress just to get this thing running:

have others run into these issues, this seems ridiculous to have to go through all of this just to play! I'd be curious to hear others thoughts on it...

haha, thats pretty bad
a good reason why I never played many console games, I prefer to just put a game in and play.

phantasy star online was the only online game i could get into..that took some prep-time ,but not nearly as bad as you say for ffx11

I'll definatly steer clear of this game if I'm ever inflicted with an xbox 360, thanks for the headsup :-)

wait until you want to play with some friends and you have to contend with the retarded worldpass system.

Final Fantasy XI was a trainwreck of poorly implemented ideas :( I'm generally not a huge fan of MMORPGs (there's been a few exceptions), and FFXI only made me dislike them more. Shame they wasted an actual number on the game instead of just calling it "Final Fantasy Online".

it just sounds like the king of train wrecks from everything I hear about it.

my one question, can you at the very least slaughter moogles?

I had that "fun" with the beta version, except it only took 2 hours to install.

I *might* purchase the game, it all depends on the monthly fee (which isn't indicated on the box)... if they do a bastard US to UK straight conversion of £12, then count me out... if it's a proper currency conversion which'd work out at around £3.50 a month, I'd get it.

Judging from how many copies of FFXI (360) I have seen at used game stores in the last 2 weeks...this game must really suck. Trainwreck is right.

I played it for the other platforms since day one, quitting last year. It was fun because I WAS in it from the beginning. Even if you gave it to me free, you couldn't drag me kicking and screaming to play it on my 360. Why didn't Square realize....it's too freakin' late for anyone to join the world of Vanadiel? It's an old game that is too far along now. It's like joining Everquest....today.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but I played it a year ago on the PS2 and had fun and I'm playing it again on the 360. I like that I can do voice chat over live other 360 people and the resolution has improved. Since when does a game being old mean it isn't fun? I think Pac-Man is still fun too.
