for instance, Theives guild, last hiest... locked door is suppose to be opened by switches on an east and/or west balcony, accessible by a broken down staircase in which you need some sassy boots to jump up to, and the switches dont open the door like theyre suppose to?

had others instances like this happen... ended up turning of the 3-sexy (thats what i like to call my 360), and loading back up a couple times, and eventually they opened...
whats up with that?

No clue. I haven't run into any glitches except for the game locking up on me once (just had to reset and have had no probs since then). Hopefully someone else will chime in.

smooth like butter

Also, are you talking about Ayelid (elven, stone, usually have undead in them) ruins? Now and then I have to fetch a key to open doors in towns, but it's pretty rare that I've needed to find a secret door entrance. There's one spot, in a castle's wine cellar, where there's a lever hidden in a broken barrel by a wall, and some other castles have some torches or pushable stone columns. That's all I've seen, though.

no. these doors require no keys. keep in mind that ive downloaded the official Strategy guide that you find in stores, so its not the fact that i dont know what im doing either... just hit a couple spots in the game where when something is suppose to be triggered, its not.. like where you use the Key Arrow (cant think of the actual name off hand)... theres a narrow platform in the middle of a room which is blocked off on both sides (where giant "walls" are suppose to drop that are blocking both sides of it... neither would when suppose to... had to jump and sword dash just to reach it...
anyways... i guess i could be more specific and look up the quests official name... but its early... and not too important since ive finally beaten the quest... just curious if anyone else ran into the same problems....

sometimes I do quests too fast, or don't wait for an NPC to come with me... often delaying a quest since I realise Oh crap, I need him there to witness somthing (even though its already done).. so then I go back and "walk" with the slow bastard..

To open the walls so you can get in position to fire the "key" arrow you have to push one of those blocks (with the shining blue crystal) to open the gates. What makes this particular area confusing is that the block you have to push is in another section of the ruins. There's even a door between the areas where the game has to load...which is unusual.

I realize this probably sounds confusing, since I'm not being very specific with the terms. In a nutshell, there's nothing wrong with your game. The block you needed to push was in a room you didn't find. I'm surprized you managed to jump up there.

I remember hearing a zombie and wondering where the hell the sound was coming from. Eventually, I figured it out and was able to raise the whole wall section.

In my first time through, I had a Fighter's quest that wouldn't close because a certain event trigger (dead body) wasn't where it should be.

Other than that, for all of the hundreds of hours invested, the game is fairly glitch free for me....freeze ups not withstanding. It's a hell of a lot less glitchy than Morrowind was, that's for sure.

Hmm, right now I'm stuck near the end of the Thieves Guild quests, which is sucky. I need to meet the Gray Fox in Chorrol. I've got the same problem as this player (http://www.elderscrollsforum.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=162&PN=1), actually (read through that; I do have the journal entry, though).

i know exactly what youre talking about. in this scenario, the button was pressed, and after running all the way back, the zombies had fallen off the "wall" but the "wall" still remained unmoved. this was done over and over, like i said before, i have the strategy guide for when i run into problems... so its not like im missing something, but rather something to do with a bug in the game maybe...

I too got stuck on this quest but it's not the game, it's the guide that has problems.

There are two blocks you have to press to lower the zombie walls and reach the arrow key platform. One is on a balcony to your left, then head down the stairs past the wraith and find the door decorated with the tree symbol. Somewhere past that door is the second block. The walls will not raise until you find them both.

Yeah, I got stuck in all of the Aylied ruins. First it was Atatar and then Sedor, the freakin pressure switches and push blocks just WOULD NOT OPEN the doors they were supposed to. In Atatar one of the push blocks was linked to a gate somewhere, if it was close the button would work, if it was open it would do nothing.

In sedor I just had to wait an extremely long time. What I ended up doing was turning on my 360 with the open button so it loaded the dashboard, and then loaded oblivion and it finally worked.

But yes, it's definitely a known bug.

I just got a weird one.

Doing a Brotherhood quest. Had to pick the lock on the house of that guy where you temporarily "murder" him with the languorblade. It's a "hard" lock and my character is only level 9...no big picking skills....so I "auto attempted" it until it popped.

Afterwards, the " clicking lockpicking sound" never went away. I'm playing the game with that clicking going on in the background. It'd better be gone when I next fire the game up. LOL
