View Full Version : PSP USB Cable & Motorola Razr?

So, the Sony USB Cable that I had from my Digital Camera works with my PSP. I just took it out today, and the end that goes into the PSP looked familiar. I looked at my Motorola Razr cell phone, and the charger port is the same thing. Is this just coincidence that I can't do anything with, or are there any PC programs that will let me upload stuff to my phone, like ring tones and games???

That cable works just fine with your RAZR. There are a couple of programs out there that allow you do fool around with RAZR media; Google them as I can't remember their names. To put games on there without paying Verizon you have to do some hacking.

I have a Motorolla E815, the step brother to the Razor (Pretty much the same phone interface and apps wise, just a different "case" for the phone). It uses a modded USB cable and I can connect it to my PC with the Motorolla phone tools. That way I can trasfer pictures and mp3's to and from my phone. I have saved a lot of money by making my own ring tones from mp3's already.

I think the Razr is locked out, but yeah there are some tools on the internet.

Yeah, you can use it. The I did the same thing when I got my phone and saw the connector was the same as the digital port on my Cannon camera.
I use a program called P2k Man or something of the sort. It's a collection of dll files and an app interface that lets you transfer to and from your phone... but I still haven't figured out how to get the uploaded tunes to show up as ringtones. They're on the phone and I can play them, but I can't set them as ringtones. There's a button on the App that says "Update Ringtones" but it doesn't do anything.
Just be paitent when installing though, theres like 8 different drivers you need to get your phone and pc to sync properly.

just so you know the port on your psp and digi-cam are called mini-usb ports, it's just a standard mini-usb to usb cable.
As for your razor phone, i've got the slvr so it's made for what you're looking for, but I know it's possible with your phone too. I think the razor only has 5 megs of internal memory and no memory card available. Regardless, I suggest motomodders.net on anything related to your cell phone.

fyi - In case you didn't know, if you plug your cell phone into your computer it will charge the phone, but if you plug your psp into the computer, it won't charge (perhaps not enough power over the usb cable). I forget my charger all the time, so I charge my phone thru my monitor (which has usb ports on it).

thanks everyone for all the info....when i have some spare time, hopefully this week, ill check it out....id really just like to add one or two ring tones to my phone, and i dont want to buy them....

Easy junk... just check for a torrent with "motorola phone tools" works great, you can copy whole songs or just sections of songs, and any picture you'd like to your phone.
