Not sure if this has been announced yet, I did a quick search for "Left Behind", and none of the threads on the first page had anything about it.

Anyways, they're making a video game based off of the Left Behind book series that pretty much goes like this:

Rapture has happened, you're in New York, you go and raise an army of converts to kill people who don't believe in Jesus (because Islamic terrorism is wrong, but Christian terrorism is A-Ok), and, in general, do whatever you want.

Does anyone else here remember that game on the Simpsons Flander's kids were playing? They shot bibles at heretics to turn them into Republicans? That was like a Ultra Christian version of Turok. This sounds like an Ultra Christian version of Warcraft.

The game is called Left Behind: Eternal Bullshit. Err, forced, I MEANT FORCES!!! NO!! DON'T SMITE ME!

Lead the Tribulation Force from the book series , including Rayford, Chloe, Buck and Bruce against Nicolae Carpathia – the AntiChrist.

· Conduct physical & spiritual warfare : using the power of prayer to strengthen your troops in combat and wield modern military weaponry throughout the game world.

· Recover ancient scriptures and witness spectacular Angelic and Demonic activity as a direct consequence of your choices.

· Command your forces through intense battles across a breathtaking, authentic depiction of New York City .

· Control more than 30 units types - from Prayer Warrior and Hellraiser to Spies, Special Forces and Battle Tanks!

· Enjoy a robust single player experience across dozens of New York City maps in Story Mode – fighting in China Town , SoHo , Uptown and more!

· Play multiplayer games as Tribulation Force or the AntiChrist's Global Community Peacekeepers with up to eight players via LAN or over the internet!

And, for the record, why is Hellraiser a unit type for you? Now, unless this video game allows you to use a Puzzle Box and summon up Pinhead and an army of chains...

It's like Spiritual Warfare for the NES....with guns and violence! I'm sure it might be good for a laugh or two. LOL

Actually, if I remember correctly, it's an RTS (think early Command & Conquer), and you're supposed to "save" more folks than you gun down.

Gamespy has a fairly detailed preview at http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/left-behind-eternal-forces/700684p1.html . It notes that this wholly forgotten game known as Catechumen already did the Christian FPS thing.

(Of course, the question it doesn't answer is, will Kirk Cameron provide voice talent?)

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought of this part in SW, somewhere in the slums where you can walk into a bar. If you try to do so, and angel appears, and then takes all of your items as punishment for associating with "that kind of place."

I would suppose, then, that a videogame version of Left Behind would actively punish you for interacting with all the "undesirables," like, oh, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, mainline Protestants, Native Americans, New Agers, agnostics, atheists, scientists, people who find dinosaur bones, anyone who criticizes George Bush, the cops that busted Rush Limbaugh, women who are on the Pill, children who listen to rock 'n roll, and parents who let their kids attend integrated public schools.

I mean, if we're going to be true to the spirit of the "Left Behind" books.

The goal of the game, of course, would be to survive during the seven-year apocalypse, and wait for Jesus to suddenly appear and then slaughter the other 99% of the human race. Then you win. Yay!

Excuse me while I puke.
