was it just me or did this have a sort of NiGHTS feel to it?

NiGHTS on the Wii would be awesome :D

Well, considering Nights was inspired by the flying in SM64, I can see where this would make sense.

I'd love to see a Nights sequel for Wii, but in the meantime a Nights-like Mario can't be bad.

There was this rumor floating around (originally taken from Famitsu) that Yuji Naka was going to release Nights on the Wii. Don't know how likely that is, but it would be a perfect idea.

Since we've got a Super Mario Galaxy thread going on... what did you all make of it? It wasn't what I was expecting, if I'm honest, but it does look like a lot of fun. And Mario has never look better (unless, of course, you're comparing him to Super Paper Mario ;)).

I find it hard to believe that Nights was inspired by the flying in Super Mario 64. They were both in development at the same time and Nights was actually released first. It would be great Mr. Rev. Link if you could post where you originally heard that info. I might be totally off track but I don't know. Thanks.

I was thinking, it went from Brothers, to World, to Galaxy, so naturally in a few more years time it'll become Universe.

Don't forget the "Land" games on GB! ;)

I was really impressed by what I saw. Looks like a lot of fun. And we finally get to play a next gen mario game without some crazy gimmick (ahem, water gun backpack).

Nights was not released first. Saturn was released first, but not Nights. Saturn was originally released with a non-analog controller. Then came N64 with its analog stick and SM64 with Mario flying through rings and such, and lo and behold, Sega throws out an analog controller and Nights.

Sony did the same thing by putting the DualShock out, but they didn't have anything as cool as SM64 or Nights to go with it.

So there you go, Mr. djlr18, with your 4 posts, and your I'm-a-self-important-newb attitude. :P

NiGHTS came out less than two weeks after Super Mario 64 in Japan though. I'm not sure Sega was copying Nintendo here as they were in simultaneous development.

Instead we get to control the game with some crazy gimmick. :)

The ps2 dualShock controller launched with Gran Turismo in the US, so it too had a "controller seller" game along with it.

Although you have to remember, the dual analog was out for almost a year before the dual shock came out... i don't remember a "specific" game that came with it tho.

Just watched a gameplay video, and it looks like pure fun to me.

Did you watch the Advanced Media Network video of it?

It has the awesome "Shadow of the Mushroom Galaxy Colossus" boss. All the bosses seem to be HUGE! But this one took the cake. When Mario started climbing up it, memories came rushing back. Tonight I think I'm gonna play through Colossus again. :D

It's a whole branch of the demo from start to finish. Complete with classic death music. Classic castle ended music and classic "Thank you so much for to playing my game!" Martinet voice.

And this one has Captain Olimar's rocket in it!

As well as the spider boss.

I love how you totally disregarded all common sense when saying that Nights was inspired by the flying sequences in Super Mario 64 and then rationalized it by saying that it was all because the N64/Super Mario 64 was first.

and to piggyback on NeoZeedeater, if what you're saying is even remotely true in even the slightest sense (which it's not, because you obviously made it up), then Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and the rest of the Night development team are among the greatest game designers and programmers in history. Seriously, going from nothing to a polished finished and distributed product in 2 weeks is mindblowing.

By dualshock you mean Dual Analog and I guess it depends on how much you liked Mechwarrior 2, Air Combat 2, Colony Wars, Descent Maximum, Bushido Blade and Tobal No 2 for if you wanted to argue that second point :)

So there you go, Mr. Rev Link, with your 742 posts, and your I'm-a-self-important-newb attitude.

Yeah, 'cuz any of those games sure do stack up to SM64 or Nights in terms of all-time favorite status. /sarcasm

And how can you possibly connect 742 posts with newb?

And how can you possibly connect 742 posts with newb?

The point is that you threw an elitest douchebag remark at someone that had a valid point on the basis that he has less posts than you, and that's why I fed your quote right back at you.

edit - well that and your original post was pretty damn retarded. Take that shit to gamefaqs.

being a 'newb' has nothing at all to do with how many posts you have, it is about your attitude and the way you treat other people.

i don't see 'newb' being for new people, its for immature people. the whole thing is ridiculous anyway.

Point is, don't try to belittle people to try and make yourself feel better. I thought we all learnt that in Pre-School?
