My Game Boy Player isn't working. I've checked the startup disc, and it looks great-no scratches or anything. I checked the player, and it's hooked up right. For some reason, the disc will not read. I looked at the Nintendo webpage, and there's nothing I can see to help me.
Does anybody have any idea of anything I can try?

Have you tried playing any other discs since it has stopped working? Maybe the gamecube broke right before you tried the gameboy player.

Yep, tried Mario Kart and it loaded right up. :/

I recommend calling Nintendo. They have probably the best tech support people I've ever dealt with. Their number is found in just about every instruction book for a game on a Nintendo platform.

Hmm. I guess I would try to disconnect the gameboy player and take a look at the connectors. If it still didn't work after reconnecting, then I have no idea.

Do you think the Gamecube picks up the game boy player before it searches for the disc or vice versa?

I wouldn't know. I would guess that the disc comes first. Maybe try booting the disc without the GBP.

Try cleaning the lens for the hell of it.

Does anybody know what happens when you insert the GBP disk without the actual hardware?

In the Interest of SCIENCE!!!11 I will test this.
Okay, it was a warning message:
The GAME BOY (R) PLAYER is not connected. Please turn the power off and connect a GAME BOY (R) PLAYER.

Thanks.
So, if you arent getting that message, there is probably something wrong with your disk and not the actual player. That's good news. Clean it off and maybe your laser too, or get the disc resurfaced, or just buy a new disk from nintendo.
