Consider that price is not an object.... Which system would be the HARDEST to complete (OFFICIAL U.S. Releases ONLY)

Now price is NO OBJECT, I'm just wondering if you had unlimited money, what would STILL be the hardest to complete? There are some pretty rare games out there :)

My vote would go to:
Atari 2600
Neo Geo (if you include the UK releases that might have been in the US at some point)

in the matter that money is not an object I assume that those systems have the most games that regardless of the amount of money you have you WON'T be able to find one (or many) titles at any given point in time. Granted after tons of searching I am sure you would eventually find what you are looking for, but it will take a while.

Atari 2600 definitely, but what about the Gameboy? I understand there are well over a thousand games for that thing, surely some of them had absurdly low production runs.

While the Neo Geo may be difficult for a few titles, I truly believe that with unlimited cash, you can pick up even Kizuna Encounter.

The 2600 would have to get my vote, as there are only so many copies of some of the Holy Grail titles (at least that are known, anyway).

The big-time collectors that possess those rare titles might not even give them up for the equivalent of an unborn child's college education. O_O

mhhh atari 2600 of course being the hardest one :)

but i think snes will be a lot of work too, you know it's a huge amount of games and there are some really hard to find items, the competition carts, the protos like star fox 2 and of course the exertainment cart. i'm sure you will find these things often enough, BUT the people who have them won't give them away

I agree with the Atari 2600. The most coveted of games were made in excruciatingly small numbers.

Neo Geo, because of Kizuna Encounter and Ultimate 11. Good luck finding those even with unlimited money.

The thing is Ultimate 11 and Kizuna are, to my knowledge, both Euro releases. Thus without those two titles the next hardest to find would be games like:
Slug 1
Slug 2
Slug X
Ninja Masters
Puzzled
Stakes Winners
Voltage Fighter
Garou
Neo Turf Masters
Double Dragon

The hardest of that bunch Neo Turf Masters, Ninja Masters, and Double Dragon being the toughest. Of those the only one that I cannot find at the moment is Turf Masters. Just something to consider for those of us into the Neo. ^_^

Atari 2600 and possibly something like the Sega cd considering it's hard to find their titles anymore now.

Sega CD? What the heck?! There's not a single game on that system that would fetch more than $75. I'd put Sega CD on the list of easiest systems to complete!

I'll go with what most others have said. Simply impossible to get games like Video Life (20 or less made), Air Raid, or Eli's Ladder... or Neo-Geo primarily because of the high cost of so many titles plus the few super scarce ones like Kizuna Encounter.

Wouldn't the most-difficult-to-complete collection be for a system that no one has heard of? How about something like, oh, the CPS Changer? Or maybe the Nuon, or one of those strange VCR systems?

Though I'd probably lean towards 2600 or Neo, I wonder how much a complete, boxed Adventurevision collection would run these days?

Jorpho...they RDI Halcyon and its two games would be pretty tough to come across. In any case, as there are three or four 2600 games rarer than the NWC Gold Cart, I'd say the 2600 is the hardest hands down.

Price is no problem?

Atari 2600 because I'm sure there is shit made for the system that is undiscovered by the collecting socity. And for every Air Raid you get (thumbs up, cheap pop), you won't find Eli's Ladder or Video Life.

In terms of volume, the PS 1, because there is simply a ton of games for it.

Another one if the GB. My rarity list won't even remotely close to being realistic anytime soon. I mean, everyone finds Atari games at goodwill and ocassionally someone will discover one of the super rares in the wild, but it seems almost unheardof to find original Game Boy games in the wild. I've seen in my life, a grand total of three Gameboy games at good will. Tetris, Castlevania Adventure, and Qix. The first Gameboy game period I got at Goodwill was Golden Sun for the Advance earlier this year for $5 brand new. Wazzupwithdat?

I think Gameboy. I can't even imagine trying to find every single game.

And price would have to be no object. Places that do have a good supply of old GB games (gamestop, eb) sell them for 15-20 dollars.

Like i'm going to pay 22.95 for Super Mario Land. Fuck you Gamestop.

That's an arcade machine... I'm not sure I'd count it. But, I don't think it would be very difficult to round out

Or maybe the Nuon

Heck no, if you're talking US releases. They're aren't very many games at all, and most are still relatively easy to get. Iron Soldier III is the only one remotely tricky I think, and if money's no object, you'll be rolling in them too.

or one of those strange VCR systems?

Maybe. Action Max is easy, maybe InteractiveVision a bit tougher, but how many tapes were there for Video Driver, or Captain Planet, if you count that one? I don't know for sure.

In fact, my suggestion was going to be for odd little handhelds, like the Palmtex/Super Micro, or the LCD Projection System, but I don't know if we count them.

Though I'd probably lean towards 2600 or Neo, I wonder how much a complete, boxed Adventurevision collection would run these days?

A lot, but they turn up from time to time, so I don't think it would be difficult to get ahold of if money isn't an object.
