Is the Shredder the only alternative to the stock Guitar Hero guitar? Does anybody have the shredder & is it any good? I just watched someone playing GH at Best Buy and it looked like a blast. Before I go spend the $60 I want to know if the guitar itself is any good. If not, Im sure I can find a loose copy of the game somewhere and buy a couple good guitars.

I don't understand how that guitar claims to have better button placement.

As for the regular guitar, definitely a quality piece. I haven't heard any issues or heard anyone complain that it's not responsive enough for the harder difficulties or anything.

Theres a red version of the guitar packaged with the game, which is only sold on Red Octane's website. It goes up, it sells out. Tis truly a bitch to get.

I bought one of the Shredders off of ebay and received it yesterday. Paid 39.99 plus shipping to get it.

Overall, I'd say it's a good guitar, but I'll probably stick with the SG. The fret buttons are a lot stiffer than the SG and seem to be a bit closer together. They are also flipped from what the SG has (the flat part of the button is on the other side of the neck). The strum bar is a bit smaller, maybe half an inch or so. It also feels a bit looser than the SG. The whammy bar is about the same. It has a lowered start button and a slightly raised select button, so I've found myself using that more than the tilt sensor, which is not very sensitive on this at all. I have to shake it to get it to register. Overall, the guitar is a bit smaller than the SG, but not enough that I noticed while I was playing.

It's a knockoff and it shows in the general quality, but for some reason I was able to immediately clear the 2 songs I was stuck on (No One Knows and Crossroads on hard). I don't know if I was controlling it better or what, but it did work.

It's a cool thing to own given how much I like GH, but as far as value it's no better than the SG.

Well, I take back my previous statement of it being a quality piece.

If they're going to put fucking ridiculous shit in the game like No One Knows on Expert, they've got to expect the guitar to take more abuse. Mines now totally fucking dead.

Fuck that song, fuck that guitar, fuck that game.

You're talking about the standard guitar, correct?

Yes, but I can't really blame RedOctane for not making it FatKidKneeProof(c). See my thread I just posted in this forum.

I browsed through a few guitar hero threads, but never found the specific answer I was looking for.

What is the difference between the guitar hero SG controller that will be released in July versus the one that is currently out?

I want to go get guitar hero now, but not if it uses a new controller (new button/control or something) for the 2nd installment that will be out in Novemeber.
