Alright folks, looks like Blockbuster's four-yearish foray in the game market is finally getting the axe. All of them it would seem. They will still take trades, but clear out a lot of inventory and get rid of game specialists. They are also no longer accepting trades on any system older than the PS1, and soon ps1 will be on the blacklist. I won't gripe though, as CLEAR OUT INVENTORY means more massive sales as good ol' Backbuster tries to cover its hiney. Keep your eyes open!

Ah, thanks for the heads-up. Can't see myself wanting to buy their old stock, but this might mean a depression of prices on eBay. :D

Uh... Gamestop has also stopped taking trades on anything prior to the PS2. Why are you so surprised? Gamerush is probably emulating them because the PS3 will come out soon enough.

Err, they're clearing out a bunch of inventory on the cheap, thats all. GameRush isn't going anywhere.

I love how the SEC allowed the EB/Gamestop merger to go through in light of this. GameCrazy is going to follow soon. Let the monopoly begin.

Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. all sell games and accessories. A monopoly isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I second that that Gamcrazy will not stickaround in the long run many have closed in diff markets. But I run a store and business is super down for the last few months. Gamerush has closed many stores

Not to mention there's the online factor. Stores like Toys'R'Us, Amazon, and eBay keep things somewhat stable.

Yes, but they do not buy & sell used games. It sucks any way you look at it. Any conglomerate of such size and stature reduces competition, leading to higher prices. GameStop & EB are in a whole different market than Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. It is monopolistic activity.

Don't even get me started about the fall of the Roman Empire! ;)

Ebay helps regulate the used games market. For better or for worse...

It's hard to have a monopoly when your competator is Ebay.
