Here's the best part... BACKGROUND DOWNLOADING!!!!!

http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEuZuVupVkshpWnVYC.php

From Xbox Scene:
We got confirmation from Boris Schneider-Johne (Senior Product Manager Xbox Platform and Accessories, Microsoft Germany) that a huge Dashboard Update will arrive at the end of May!

Features include background downloading and having multiple downloads at once.
The user marks a file to download and it will be put in an active queue downloadlist. There are 6 slots reserved in that queue. They will be downloaded sequentially not in parallel! If the Xbox360 sees there is bandwith available it will boost the download speed up. During online sessions the downloads will be paused to garantee no lags. It's also possible to turn off the console, after powering it back on the downloads will resume. When a download finishes the user will get a message that it has been downloaded.

He also mentions that there will be a lot more features in there but it will be a surprise and he won't talk about it!

Finally!!! That was probably the most annoying feature of the downloading service.

Yeah and its terrible right when a new demo comes out and it takes forever to download.

I just wish this hit before E3 did. Some of those videos (and demos) have been pretty big!

Great news. Thats always been my biggest gripe about the dashboard. Now if they would just put dates on the recently updated sections, things would be perfect. The update should be ready right about the time I get my 360 back from MS.

Perhaps they'll fix the PAL 50/60 option that isn't available to VGA or Component users. Honestly, I can't believe I had to connect via Scart for a few minutes. Honestly, Microsoft - way to usher in the Hi Def era... by sending me back to the stone age!

I think two simple things MS could give us is a) longer motto length and b) custom 'away' messages.

It's not a big deal, but half a step closer to the holy grail of the 'entertainment center' that they are striving for.

Yeah, that reminds me... Could they possibly make the max length for a message longer? I realize that it isn't fully functional email, but I can generally only get about three senctences typed or spoken into a message. It makes it kind hard to send anything other than "You. Me. Quake 4. Tonight.". Often I end up having to send multiple messages. Although I guess most people don't have a USB keyboard.

Apparently the update went live today. Can't wait to download and have a play! Anyone tried it yet?

I just connected to Live and it updated itself automatically (with asking of course). Cool.

I kept trying to post this news, last night. But I kept getting some weird "debug error", throughout the whole evening.

Oh well - fired my 360 and downloaded the update before I left for work. I was hoping to see some new arcade games, as well.. (Street Fighter 2....)

Oh well - you win some, you lose some.

I'm loving the 'straight to dashboard' option!!

I emailed Beserker this morning about it, i get it every time. His reply:

Yep, we're well aware of it. I emailed Joe last night about it, and another admin phoned him when they came across it. We're working on fixing it.

In all liklihood your posts ARE going through, after some delay. That's why you might notice all the double/triple/quadruple posts floating around right now. Most attempts to make new threads AREN'T going through however, which is why you haven't seen an announcement stating that we're aware of the problem and working on it.

The PM system seems completely unaffected by it.

Nate

I bet it has something to do with the 1,000,000 posts

So did I read correctly that the 360 now supports all USB Keyboards?

Under "Misc. System Improvements"...

that would be sweet! I just got one of those logitech G15 gamer keyboards for my PC.
