I think I've got to get a new job. I've been up for 32 hours straight, 19 of those were at work. Winding down at home, playing Trauma Center, waiting to crash, decide to try some Guitar Hero. No One Knows on Expert is a hard song, but not only is it hard, it's the kind of song you can try once a day before wanting to destory things. I fail 4 or 5 times, usually because the fucking guitar wouldn't go into star power when I needed it to.

The back of the guitar directly underneath the strum bar finds my knee in rapid succession. Upon my next try, only the orange and blue buttons work. Unsuprisingly, I fail the song yet again, in record time.

I hear something rattle inside the guitar so I figure I just knocked something loose, so I opened it up, found the rattling culprit and saw nothing loose. So heres what the insides of the guitar look like.

These next two pictrues show whats rattling. This little board is held in place by a couple of slots in the guitars plastic shell, as you can see in the first two pictures. I assume this is the tilt sensor? I bet it doesn't work at all now.

My camera has the uncanny ability to focus on the background when using a flash. Time for a new camera, maybe I should introduce it to my knee as well.

Even though this next picture blows, this clearly illustrates the problem. The two leads off the left side of this board are going to the buttons, and when I smashed the thing against my knee it obviously cracked, destroying the communication between the buttons and the rest of the piece.

So, here's my question. Is this fixable? I know there are some really crazy hardmods in the pc gaming world where you can literally use a pencil to connect transistors to unlock certain features or more pipelines or whatever... would something like that be possible here, or do I just have to spring for another guitar because I'm an idiot?

You arent the first person here to destroy a controller. The only controller Ive destroyed in years was a Dual Shock 2. Tiger Woods '02 used to make me very angry. Id come home from a 13 hour work day and 4 hours on the road. Id throw back a few beers and get on some Tiger Woods '02. Bad shot + wood floors = broken controller.

Exactly. It is supposed to give the anger mongers something distracting to do.

Hey man, I feel your pain. I used to be able to whip a controller with the best of them. I'm too old now.

Well, I suppose I should have taken pictures before I cased it back up, but it's back in fully functional fashion. The pencil trick did indeed work, and I just beat Ace of Spades on Expert to test its durability. It feels a little different, maybe thats just the lack of sleep though.

My solution is GO TO FUCKING BED MAN

I know GH is awesome, but sleep is pretty awesome as well.

Yeah, that didn't work. I ended up staying up to my regular time anyways, completely defeating the purpose of staying up overnight and doing a double.

I'm going to have to do it again tonight, I just woke up at 2pm and I have to be up at 4am tomorrow.

Sounds to me like that controller is made poorly. Yet I still can't decide if this was an anger issue.

obviously No One Knows is far too \m/ for you.

then again, it turns out you're way more \m/ than that guitar controller. i think guitar hero 2 needs to come with something constructed out of a material other than plastic. then you could bash the thing all over the place.

Haha, it was someone else who was rocking out too hard last night.

That screen rules.

All things said though, I beat the shit out of that thing and it could be fixed by a number 2 pencil. I'm still very suprised to see it actually crack though.
