Best Mario Kart 64 battle map?

After reading the newest additions to the top 100 games of all time I was shocked when the comment was made that Block Fort is the best map. My friend and I have played litterally 1000s of games, our record in one night was 199 games, he won 100 to 99. Every single one of those 200 games was played on Skyscraper. We both feel that this is by far the best map and it gets better when 4 play because it speeds up, or at least feels like it does. Nothing is better than having a red turtle on your ass and having to jump the wide gap and hope that you had enough speed to make it.

So what does everyone else think is the best battle map?

Arrrrggghhh!! I hate that map. I think it's because of all of those holes in the ground that allow you fall off the skyscraper and make you lose a balloon.
I can't remember the name of it, but my favorite was that level with the four different colored blocks. That one rocked.
Edit - Oh wait, is the level I'm talking about Block Fort? (the one that you mentioned)

Ha yeah but that's the whole point of that map. There is a fine line between making a skillful getaway and falling off the screen, so it's a real challenge.

I think the weakest map is the one with the lava in the middle because it's a bit too basic, but then maybe it's designed as a beginners level. The other three are as good as each other in my opinion.

Edit: now there is a poll I choose Block Fort as my fave, but it's a close thing.

Block fort is by far the best map... =)

Skyscraper is fun.. but it's hard to find someone at your level to play on it. I find that most people I played would end up killing themselves rather than me killing them. As for block fort, it's very balanced. =)

you can copletely bypass the hole in the middle on the skyscraper stage if you're quick enough. personally I thought the triple decker map was the best next to block fort. donut hole was just plain ol' f*ckin stupid.

I rarely fell down on the Skyscraper level, but found it quite boring. It was similar to the Donute map except where the fall zones are differ. The issue with Skyscraper is to do with it just plain being lame. It didn't have any dimention to the road, unlike the Block Fort and Tripple Decker. Block Fort is my favorite due to the awesome corners and multi levels. It makes it so the point of the game is to get to the highest ground and duke it out on those high spots, and bridge wars. Same goes with the Tripple Decker, you battle over the top area to shoot red shells down at lower level drivers.


What would also be interesting is to add a poll to the thread, and on top of that possible add Diddy Kong Racing. They had some really fun race tracks on there and some odd death matched levels as well.

Block Fort is my favorite. I like to shoot as many green shells as I can into the lower part of the course, making things a little tougher down there.

"Block Fort" is probably the best, but anyone who says "by far" about anything to do with these choices is simply mistaken. All four are extremely good levels.

Triple Decker was always the funnest for me, followed by Block Fort, Skyscraper, and finally that stupid Donut thing.

Another vote for Block Fort.
Spent the most amount of time on that one by far.
Triple Decker is the next best, then doughnut, even though its limited, and finally, Skyscraper - which is pretty awful and just damn annoying

Even though the number of battle levels was small, they all rocked!!!

I'm gonna have to go with "Block Fort" as well. That is a damn good map, and the amount of strategy you can use on it is great.

P.S. I love playing Block Fort on Mario Kart DS, when you get like 16 players(bots and humans), going around, it is a BLAST! And thats my favorite battle level of the DS version as well. :D
