Also if anyone has done this before and would like to coach me, much help would come. I need to find out how to tell the model and such

I've never put a mod-chip in any of my saturns, but if you are interested in a region key cartridge so you don't need to perform surgery on your console, I have an extra one I'm willing to trade/sell, let me know.

He's probably looking to play "backups" - Saturn modchips don't do anything about region protection (other than let you rip the games to your harddrive, modify the region, then burn them again - and that is too much trouble)
Oval buttons mean model 1 - which means not good for modding. Get yourself a model 2, which has round buttons, I'm not aware of any chip that supports model 1 (most are for model 2)

Haha, thats what I was going to say. The install is simple and the instructions are all over the place online. Just google sega saturn mod chip. Problem is finding a saturn modchip nowdays. I know someone who had one for some of the old RPG's he played. He didnt want to play his originals because of thier value on the market. Sorry I dont know which RPG's they were.. not my kind of game.

Ok well heres a guide with better pictures:
Saturn Modchip Installation Guide (http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2005/01/sega-saturn-mod-chip-installation.html)
You can also buy chips from this page (http://www.racketboy.com/saturn-modchip/index.htm) on that site.
There are details there for intsalling the chip on different model Saturns.
Good luck.

I know a place where I can get Saturn mod chips for like $9 each, only problem is that you have to buy like 50 of them at one time to get that price. I'm willing to buy 10 of them, and I was hoping to find 4 other guys that would be willing to buy 10 of them. Then we can do a group order.
