I bought a Sega CD model 2 and when I turned it on, everything works okay. After 10 minutes or so, the AC power transformer smells very funny. This happens when the transformer gets warm. Although, I'm not sure if it's normal and I'm not sure if I want to keep using it on my Sega CD. The AC adapter is a model 1602. Has anyone's AC adapter smells weird like mine, is it normal, and is it okay to keep using it?

Please say your not using a AC powersuppy, the Genesis 2 uses a DC 10V 0.85A Powersuppy. The Sega CD 1 and 2 uses the Model 1 Genesis power supply which is DC 9V 1.2A.
AC is not good for Genesis or Sega CD due to it uses DC,you may be frying it. Also the Sega CD ONLY uses the Offical Sega Power supply,so the one from Radioshack dosent work with the Sega CD,Only with the Genesis and Sega Master System. And it is normal for the powersupply to get hot after about 10 Minutes,it should be warm even when off but not as hot as when its on.Not Hot as in cant touch so hot. Hope this helps.

No, it's the official power supply. I guess I got AC and DC mixed up. The power supply I use for the Sega CD is the one used for the Genesis 1. Anyways, I tryed another official power supply and it's an improvement. I guess the power supply I used to try the Sega CD was damaged.
