i picked up a copy of combat this weekend - the front label reads "01 combat"
is this anything unique? i've only ever seen the front label w/ the word "combat"

Not unique, but certainly "fun". The best part about it is that it identifies the game as the Atari 2600's first cataloged game. More are identified in this way in early packaging. See our note regarding the first nine in this entry:
