I think it looks good but IGN really layed into it.

I was SO disappointed with this game. My beloved Final Fight series... so perfectly executed on SNES and Sega CD... and now this.
- The SNES versions had better graphics. I'm not being sarcastic.
- The bane of so many 3D games: the camera. Why, why, why, is this still an issue? WHERE IS MY GUY?
- Collision detection seems to work better in 2D. This game lacks that "thwack" factor that the originals do so well.
- Why do I suddenly hate the characters in the Final Fight universe? Is it possible I never cared?
- Why am I BORED after 15 minutes of mindless violence? Wasn't the original FF just mindless violence?
- How on Earth did they fuck up the arcade version of the game? Who toyed around with the frame rate? And why am I asking myself questions while playing a game? That can't be good.
- I don't even like the music.
For years I hoped the street-fighting brawler genre would come back. With the exception of the very nice game Urban Reign, I'm wishing it would just go away again so I can remember that it was something I used to really enjoy.

Wow, Thanks for the info! I will stay away from it. I was deciding between this and Genji. Genji it is then. lol
I remember seeing the trailers and it looked awesome.
Only good thing about FFSW is I think the original FF is an unlockable.

It IS. And I thought the same as you, but sadly...

Wow. I guess I'll stick with the one on Capcom Classics Collection
Capcom must of rushed this game.

This was made by the same studio that made the incredible Maximo series, however the team was actually canned before Streetwise released, I imagine it is hard to do a stellar job while getting ready to look for new work. I also imagine that morale would be quite low.
Not an excuse, just a possible explanation.

Good points though.

I lost faith that the beat-em-up genre would ever work in 3D after I played Fighting Force on PSX.

In a messed up way, I consider games like Devil May Cry to be the spiritual sequels to beat em ups. Other than the lack of multiplayer, the mechanics are there - you run around 3D environments using special moves to destroy wave after wave of badguy (many of which are the same enemy with different weapons/palettes).
For a more straight forward beat em up, MK: Shaolin Monks was pretty fun.

Yea, I was thinking about getting MK SM. I heard the game was hard?

I'm a bit surprised the game's already out...and it sounds like the dev cycle was rushed.
