Along with destroying all games older than the PSX (and N64), Blockbuster actually did something smart. Just thought you guys would like to know :-)

Thanks for the info!
They are sure a bunch of Jackasses for destroying (old) games.
There are better ways of moving old inventory. 8-)

WTF? They're destroying old games? Why not just give them away for free?

"Because we may potentially take them and sell them for a profit somewhere else"
...or maybe we could just sell them for a dollar, but hell if I know what they're thinking at the corporate office *sigh*

My local Blockbusters always put their PS1 games in those ugly costom cases with the manual all cut up on the inside. Sucks too, because I'd buy Tail of the Sun from them right now if it wasn't all mangled to hell.

Did this just start today?

I think that if they destroy them, then they can take some sort of tax break, at least that's what someone from the corporate office at Target told me when I was working there.

All of the Game Rush (Blockbuster) stores near me have nothing but Ps1 sports games left. It has been like that for months. So $2 is overcharging.

None of my blockbusters even carry ps1 games anymore and haven't for over a year.

Thanks - I'll have to check in on this.
My copy of FF9 has a scratch on the last disc, I'd love to replace it. :)

By the way, what's the deal with new games? Are they being discounted too?

I haven't seen a PSone game in a BB here in Atlanta for years. I wouldn't buy one without the original case and instructions, anyway. However, this is a fine deal for people who aren't so picky so better start looking...

All NEW PSone games were marked down to $1.99 sometime last year, at least in this market. I'd go back and find the email but I don't work there anymore :) :) :)

a similar sale is on in the UK BB'ers...
BB still accepts trade ins of PS1 games and sells them all (regardless of the title) for 99p!
Well at least the last few i have visited anyways... great for resale!
Most have little ps1 stock in, however i find its best checking once a month as some fool will trade a game in for under 50ps worth of store credit

Man, for $2 I'd buy a copy of tail of the sun no matter how mangled it was....
Anyway, I haven't seen PS1 inventory at a BB in ages, but I'll check a few anyway.

Went to Gamrush today. The PS1 games I saw were pretty much all disc-only sports titles. Not a single decent game worth buying. Not complaining though since I cleared out all the local Blockbusters good PS1 games months ago.

I don't care how common a PS1 game is or if it is a sports title, you won't get a raw deal buying it for $2. Even if it doesn't have the inserts or manual.......That is less than the price of an energy drink or bag of chips.

I wish my local BB still had all those Greatest Hits copies of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night I saw last year. Two dollar copies of that game would've made awesome trade bait.

Anybody gone to stores where the ps1 games were in decent shape. In the past 2 years I have only seen about 2 out of 100 that had a decent selection. Ones where there were cases and alot of complete games etc.
Now it seems that all that is left is broken cases scratched discs, tossed about aimlessly. 1 store I was so suprised to find at least 200 ps1 games in decent shape 90 precent complete. It was a weird feeling. I was so excited I felt I had to look throw them all.
When I find ones that look bad it kills the thrill. I know its getting harder as time moves on but I find it funny that older cartridges hold there shine a whole lot better than the newer cd technology.
As far as blockbusters goes I haven't seen a store with more than 10 ps1 games in along time. I thought they stopped ps1 games awhile ago.

All the places around here (not BB though) clean and resurface all used CD's and DVD's. This applies to games too. Stores such as:
Newbury Comics
EB Games
GameStop
etc etc

I haven't been to Blockbuster in years. I hate how they replaced the cases on used games to blockbuster cases. I may have to look into this though.
