I was playing Warlords with some friends, earlier.
It hit me how much I miss paddles. They used to be such perfect little controllers. But the last time I remember seeing paddles were the Vaus controllers for Arkanoid on the NES.
Whatever happened to the good ol' paddle?

There was a TV Games device released with paddle controllers, actually. (In fact, I'll sell you mine if you're interested. :D )
There's also the Ultraracer 64, which could hardly be thought of anything but a paddle.

No idea if they made that for any other console, though. (I used to have one of those, too, until I finally gave it to someone who actually had an N64.)

I'm surprised a paddle hasn't been implemented as part of a "modern" controller, if only just to easily scroll through menu options.

You could argue the JogCon controller released on the PlayStation for R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 was a paddle. Most recently the second version of the TV Games Ms. Pac-Man stick implemented a twisting joystick (operates like a paddle except with resistance) for Pole Position control.

Well the NES Vaus controller is shit (still better than the controller for Arkanoid of course) but the Atari VCS paddles were one of the greatest controllers ever to hit the market. There are soooooo many good atari paddle games on the VCS.

The Commodore 64 and Vic 20 also had paddles. They were white and were used with some of the earlier games like SuperSmash and Clowns.

I don't miss paddles because I never gave them up :D .
Still like Super Breakout and Warlords very much, and in the last few years have gotten into Circus Atari.
For some games, there's just no substitute for an honest pot.
