Gee, I never remembered the Power Glove plug being so disturbingly blatant. I thought he just used it for a minute or two.
But some things are better forgotten. Now my brane hurts.

Naa, the DVD art (if that does end up going forward) is just a really cheap non-background version of the film poster / VHS box art.
Been on DVD in Germany for awhile (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000059Z3H.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg).

I watched that clip on 1Up.com where the kid uses the Power Glove and i'm impressed.
His ability to act like the Power Glove is far more useful than it is in reality is nothing short of amazing.

Awsome, Glad to see The Wizard getting its props on DVD. The power glove was an integeral part of the film. The last time I saw this movie was on Nickelodeon many many years ago, its good to know I will be able to watch it whenever I want in the Future. My favorite quote from the movies is, "You got 50,000 points on Double Dragon!"

Well you could always get a region free player;)
As for The Wizard, it is such a steaming pile of horse manure that, if not for the pervasive Nintendo factor throughout, it would be absolutely unwatchable. As it is, I'll probably pick it up, due to the ol' NES connection.

About frickin' time!! I love this movie! Yes, it was cheesy and promo for SMB3, but I still love it!!
I remember thinking the Power Glove was so cool and when I saw that dude use it for Rad Racer, I was amazed. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was a $80 peice of crap. Was it $80? Can't remember how much it cost. Regular old NES Controllers FTW. 8-)

For those who haven't seen it, really it's a big feature lenght commercial for Nintendo. LOL Honestly it's pretty much a rehash of Tommy with a few changes, mainly replacing pinball with NES games - oh, and no music outside from a couple little montages against music of the day. No big symbolism either.
Seriously though, that's what it is. Jimmy Woods is Tommy. Lucas Barton is The Champ. Instead of being told that he never witnessed the death of his father (Tommy), Jimmy slips into his sickness because he witnessed the death of his sister and so forth...

I love The Wizard. I think I watched it five times last month. I dont care if it's a Nintendo commercial. I like the NES and I love watching a movie about people playing it...don't swear it off just because someone made money from it. It's a movie about kids traveling across the country to play in a NES competition. Whats not to like about that?

This is all well and good, but when are they going to release Double Dragon on DVD? That is the worst video game movie ever. Who owns a copy of that on VHS? I got one for free because no one wanted to buy it from our local rental store.

I've been watching for Double Dragon on DVD for ages now. I think it had a really short run a few years ago, because I can find listings occasionally, but I've never seen one available.
Didn't the wizard have a wacky part where one of the leads falsely accuses one of the madcap persuers with child molestation? Gotta love the 80s.

Back in the day...
My ex worked in a video store and one of the perks was taking home a few movies every night. I must have seen 1000 movies and made sure I saw every video game related movie there was. The cheesier they are the better.
I still have one of those How To Beat Home Video Games II tapes somewhere. Imagine watching a video to help you play pitfall :)

And just think, Jenny is now part of Rilo Kiley!
I barely remember this movie, I saw it maybe 3 or 4 times as a kid from renting it at blockbuster. It's nice that it's going to be on DVD, but I probably won't grab it until it drops into the discount bin. That of course is assuming that's not where it's going to make its big DVD premiere. like soo many other DVDs have.

Uhh... so is Beau Bridges. I'm sure it was sold as a big time film project for it's day - the world was in love with Nintendo then.
