Just saw a reply to a letter from readers in the March issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly and here's what it said.
"According to our hardware contact at Sony , Irwin Fletcher, all Playstations from SCPH-33001 on feature an upgraded fetzer valve which both improves graphics and allows you to burn cd's. (tap UP-Down-Up-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-Start to open the cd burner menu.) That aside there haven't been any changes.
Now my question. Is this total BS or what?
I really don't see Sony putting a burner in the PS2's. And then using a Contra code to make it work. :hmm:
And also there is no A or B button on a PS2 contoller.
So what do you guys think?

Konami code redux!
it's sadly false. where would the PS2 get the data to "burn" from? with only 40 megs of ram, you wouldn't be able to hold any discs for a disc copy or anything like that.
Also, isn't the name Irwin Fletcher from something?

That's what I was thinking. Unless you could get a Jap hard drive it just wouldn't work.

Jon I'm so sure it's fake it hurts. Call Sony if you need confirmation, I'm sure they've gotten a million calls about it by now.

Just wondering. I have a dvd burner so it doesn't matter much to me. I just thought it was odd to make that reply and it's not the April issue. Keep printing false info and they may lose a subscription or 2. (not like that would hurt them much). LOL

I don't know about the Contra code but if you get some pliers and a set of thirty weight ball bearings, I think it will work. oh and 10 gals of anti-freeze, Prestone --- nah, make it Quaker State.

I can make a cd burner with matches, a firepit, and high yield short term bonds.

now, WHY pray tell, with all the goofball pirates and their shifty tactics would sony (or ANY game company) even think of putting a cd-burner in a game system? egm should get a slogan that says: "jus' f***in' witcha, foo!"
don't believe everything you read, especially if it's OBVIOUSLY false. the power of the press is often abused, but it's up to the reader to sort of educate him/herself and be able to go "oh. they made a funny. ha ha." and move the hell on...jeez cdburnerintheplaystation2,indeeeeed... x_x
