I know I do. I seem to have caught it from playing New Super Mario Bros. and it seems that the symptoms involve an urge to play super mario games, which works for me since I have them all with the exception of the RPG handhelds.

My question is though (and I think there may have been a thread about this but I can't find it), is the chronology of the super mario RPG games. Is there any order I should play them in to get the correct story, or are they all their own seperate thing?

Also, any one else suffering from Mario Fever?

The Mario RPGS are pretty much self contained. They'll have references to previous games occasionally, but nothing spoiler-ific.

I've been playing the New Super Mario Brothers as well. I got the bug. I am enjoying it, but I had hoped it would have been more along the lines of Super Mario World rather than Super Marion Brothers. It might be somewhere in between...

Some of the levels seem a bit short, but I have a ways to go yet. Giant Mario is cool...micro mario is annoying...

Good stuff either, should hold me too Mario Galaxy, though I have missed a number of Mario games, not to mention Susnshine...

Sunshine should keep you busy for quite awhile if you really want to do everything in the game.

Hell, I'm still playing it...

I was playing SM64 up until about 2 years ago, having gotten all 120 stars about a dozen times but just experimenting with wacky shit, trying to jump up to certain places, or do certain things. etc.... I love Mario games.

I was also messing around with Super Mario 64 Shindou Version for awhile, with the rumble functionality.

I have started playing SM64 again from time to time though, emulated, in 1600x1200 8-)

I tried replaying Mario 64 on the DS but could not get myself to commit that much time to again I had already beated.

What's the popular opinion here on the Mario and Luigi games for the DS?

I haven't played Partners in time, but Superstar Saga for the GBA is FANTASTIC.

I think after I finnish NSMB (which should be soon) I'll start one of the Mario RPG's, but I'm not sure which one yet.

I also wanna play through SMW again now that I've been playing the new one so much.

Not me. I can't really say why exactly, but NSMB hasn't "grabbed" me.

I've been on a Zelda kick though. I played through Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons for the second time this week, and I'm not tired of it yet. Might play LTTP or the original Zelda next.

Can't say I'm a Mario fan at all.
I enjoyed the music of the series, but never thought much for characters/plot/gameplay

I don't think anyone else plays Mario games for the plot either.

You can only save Princess Peach so many times until she becomes a burden.

She's only a burden because she doesn't put out

Remember the cake scene from Mario 64?

"Mario! You've saved the Mushroom Kingdom from utter subjugation and rescued me from being turned into Bowser's personal love doll. Here! I made you cake!"

"But... my doctor said I should be watching my weight."

"<To Toad> I thought you said you could distract fat people with sweets? Damn... now I'll have to pull out the "we're only friends" line."

Mario fever? Oh yes. I'm playing through New. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Yoshi's Island at the moment. I am loving NSMB - it just gets better and better!

Edit: I only just bought Super Mario Bros. 3 on GBA... and I had no idea you could view and save replays! Man, I swear no review mentioned this at all!

I just picked up SMB3 for GBA, just so I can take it with me wherever I want. I'll have to decide later whether that's worth it, since I have both the NES and SNES versions on my computer.

I also grabbed Super Princess Peach, and it's pretty fun so far. There's certainly more freedom for the design team to try new things out, so it complements New Mario very nicely. And we only need to wait a few more months for the new Yoshi's Island.

Wanna bet the reasons why everybody bags on that game when it comes out?

I'm in love with Mario platform games all over again. In fact, I was playing Super Mario All-Stars (SMB1) before I bought NSMB. Beat it and was working on the more difficult quest. Then I got NSMB and have been preoccupied ever since.

I beat NSMB last night as Mario and now I'm going through it again as Luigi. Actually found some alternate paths I didn't when I played as Mario.

Actually thought about firing up the NES version of SMB3. I've been wanting to play it again but man, you can't freaking save!! X_x I love the SMB3 version in SMAS but I love the NES one even more.

Someone up there mentioned the DS version of SM64 and I've got to say that I'm somewhat disappointed in it.

I just can't get used to the control, it in no way comes close to an N64 analog pad.

I wish I could get hold of the ROM and play it on my PC with an N64 pad, as I'd like to take a crack at the new stars.

Maybe the trick is not using the wristband and just attaching that little nub to my finger somehow, because it definitely isn't working as-is, my thump keeps slipping out of the band at critical times.
