I just have one wish:

please put the 'Rumor Mill' at the end of each system, not in between 'Releases' and 'CD-Rom'. or 'Releases' and 'Demos, Samplers, Non-Games'.

The rumor list is something I personally don't find important, maybe you could even leave it out altogether?

One thing I'd like to see is the "Homebrew" section re-titled "Aftermarket Releases" or similar.
That way, the Good Deal Games/Older Games releases and stuff like Beggar Prince are seperated from the main section, and the descriptions can indicate whether they are genuine homebrewed titles or some other kind of after-the-fact release.

The rumor mill is important to me. It lets me know if Ive discovered something extremely rare. I do agree that it belongs at the end though.

Actually a strategy guide reference section at the near end of each console (just before the rumor mill section) would be very benificial and handy!

It would be nice to see which games had a stratagy guide published.

How would multi-platform strategy guides be handled? The same listing in each console section that it covers?

Maybe there should be a separate Strategy Guide section, since there are so many multi-platform ones.

Personally, I think strategy guides would need their own DP book.

I second aftermarket releases for a category. I cant wait for a new book, my other one is getting thrashed!

I'd like to see WAY higher quality pictures in the book. I was really disappointed to see what look light really low quality GIFs in the guide. I'll pay more, of course.

one thing that i always thought the guides lacked is checkboxes for game, box, manual, or extras.

most games would have 3 checkboxes, but something like say... Zelda for NES would have 4 checkboxes, one for the cartridge, one for the manual, one for the box, and one for the map/hintbook.

carrying my guides around doesn't help too much when all i know is that i have the game, but not what else i have with it....

Has anyone started a strategy guide list for games on each system? People could post in separate threads(broken down by system) what they have.

I used to have a strategy guide for Crystalis that you could get directly from SNK buy sending in a little coupon cut out of the game's ad in a magazine. I bet that would have been an R9! Should have kept it! But how was I to know people would end up collecting stuff like that?

I think I still have a couple issues of the Taxan newsletter that you could get the same way. That at least was full color and had screen shots and stuff. I also have the first handful of issues of Game Informer that they sent out to Funcoland members.

I think that when I got my first video game magazine in 1990, I cut out every possible little coupon for free info/memberships/subscriptions/mass mailing there was in that issue. It wasn't just Crystalis, Taxan and Funcoland...I know there were some other things I got, but I can't recall what now.

I'd like to see:

-System specs under the picture on the first/intro page of the system instead of buried at the back of the section.

-Rumor mill last, if at all (as stated)

-Atari 2600 appendices at the end of the VCS section instead of at the very back of the book (ie: cx numbering lists)

-cart variant information either with the game's listing or in a seperate "variants" section, and with seperate rarity (ie: color dreams black vs blue, Legend of Zelda Gold vs Gray)

I don't know if any of these have already been implemented or not, I'm just putting suggestions out there :)

What's going to fill the space left from moving TG16 to the blue guide?

My only wish is that they take those damn Sachen games out of the main NES list and move them to Imports section where they belong.

I thought they did move it under Sachen Games. It's its own section last time I checked.

Regarding Strategy guides, I know that maxlords tried to compile a list a while back. I don't think it worked too well. I think there was just too much stuff to handle. Maybe maxlords will see this and give us the real reason.

Anyway, if someone wanted to try and start making a list, I would gladly contribute what I have.

Well, I know I'd gladly spend just as much on a Strategy Guide DP guide as a regular one. Compiling the list could get ugly when you get to foreign guide books, though.

My biggest request has always been 2 versions of the book, one WITHOUT imports. There are a lot of collectors and gamers (myself included) who have absolutely no interest in import gaming. Nothing against it at all, just not my cup of tea :) And since it takes up a LARGE amount of space, and the casual gamer who buys the guide is going to be even less interested in it than me, I imagine it would make a good secondary release.

I would even pay the same price for much less material just so I don't have to leaf through all the stuff I'm not interested in!

Oh, and make it back lit.

Are you talking about the online guide? Because I'm looking at my print version of the DP Guide Version 7 right now and all the Sachen games are mixed in with the U.S. releases.

Some stuff in advanced has release dates, some stuff doesn't, it really just depends on the list handler. Not to mention some of them just out and out have the wrong dates. I know that IGN and a few other places have tons of PS release dates and a good number of them are off (and is the reason that most of the PS dates in the online guide are in correct).

Yeah I just noticed today while reading the Genny section. Some systems do have release dates. I'd like to see it for all of them though.

Oh, and make the batteries easy to find. I dont know what Ill do when mine die because I cant even figure out where they are.
