This saturn cart was what I think a backup cart and had what looked liked some kind of rpg animation on the label. I saw it in a game store and wondering what it is.

Any help is appreciated!

Any pictures? It's really hard to tell from just that description. Where did you see the cart, at a US game store, or somewhere else?

Most carts are 1MB or 4MB RAM expansion, even with a picture on them - they're usually bundled in with the game they display on them. Like the Tokemeki Memorial 1MB cartridge was bundled with a DX release of the game for instance.

The exception to this is King of Fighters '95 which has a ROM cartridge that contains all the character sprites, the game will only function with it and it's only good for use with the game. Basically the game downloads the sprites it needs from the cartridge when it needs them.

If you're certain it's a backup cart then it could be a regular Saturn save cart with a Dragon Force sticker on it. If it's cheap.. I'd buy it; as 1st party Saturn save carts are getting rarer and more expensive with each passing day (I'm only referring to Sega carts.. not 3rd party ones).

It also could've had the Sakura Wars sticker on it. I remember Lik-Sang and a couple other online companies selling those a few years ago.

Hehe...I'm still sitting on my stack. I plan on cashing them out and buying a new home. :)

If it's a black 1st party backup cart (as in Sega branded) it will fetch $20 to $25 right now on eBay.. sometimes more depending on the "mood". The Dragon Force stickers were sold separately (w/the game I think) and are merely applied to the backup cart (could be any brand underneath) as far as I remember.

The DF sticker MAY make it worth a few bucks more.. but the bulk of your "value" comes from the fact that it's a backup cart.
