Overpowering the SMS

Ive always used the Sega Genesis 1 power adapter with my SMS and had no problems.I just looked at the bottem of the System and it says the System is rated at 9V 850mA. The Genesis 1 power adapter is 9V 1.2A which is 1200mA. So my question is how can the SMS handle these extra amps?

It doesn't draw them. That AC adapater could be rated to 20 amps, it would still work, and the SMS wouldn't draw any more amperage than it needed.

Too low amps, now that is no good.
