Here's a good example:

Why are PAL PlayStation 2 games put in such ugly cases? Just look at those lined up on the shelf...all black and white...the same font...yawn.

Wow. Even SMS games are more exciting to look at than that.

I actually like my games that are in similar color schemes. Seems like a lot of PS2 racers released in the US are done similarly.

They do it to cut costs. You forgot to mention that the manuals are just as boring. 90% of PAL PS2 manuals are in black and white. I do prefer PAL coverart to US coverart though.

I was just thinking that they look exactly like most of the Japanese PS2 cases I have. I've also noticed that there are quite a few English translated (I assume) PAL versions of many of the Japanese games I've bought. Whether or not there was any changes made to the games to conform to PAL censors, I dont know, but I'm certainly envious.

although they are plain, they are very uniform....unlike goddamn doom on the 32x with the font facing the different direction of all the other 32x games....

Personally I like them although I think the older black cases are better than the current blue. I also prefer the black background on the playstation logo on the European case spines compared to the white background on the US and Japanese cases.

The spines on the European PS2 cases look uniform but nice unlike the spines on the European DS cases which looks really bad. All white (except for the language triangle) with no color that separates the DS logo from the game title.

I actually quite like Pal PS2 cases (especially compared to fragile Pal DC cases!) - it makes it easier to spot the imports (http://www.webmad.co.uk/stacked.jpg) ;)

Drives me up the wall every time I look at it! How about Astal on the saturn! No name on the spine card at all!

That annoys me about some GBA games as I stack my boxes on top of one another and some don't have the name of the game on any of the edges at all!

Some Sega CD games have that too.

Not all of them are blue. I also have games that came in black and/or red cases...

If you look at the PS2 cases in good lighting, they are actually navy blue. Take a DVD case along for comparison.

are those greatest hits titles at the end of the ps2 row? that silver black scheme aint as bad as the red and black crap we get.
