Anyone else having this problem? I think one other DP member has encountered this; can't remember who.

Basically, it happens at the same spot each time: First level, IIRC, right as the first line of choppers appear to drop bombs on you. What happens is the sound glitches a few times and then WHAMMO, it freezes.

Funny thing is, it works fine and dandy on my regular GBA.

Yeah, I've had the exact same problem, and I think pretty much everyone who owns the game does *L*

It works fine on my GB Player. I haven't tried it on an older model SP, so it might just be the brighter lit units. Has anyone tried it on a Micro?

I've played it on my launch GBAsp and i've had no problems with it ever freezing or anything like that.

Works fine on my 'regular' SP. I guess you just need to find someone who has one and beat the first level and save the game. That sucks, I was thinking I could get rid of my SP for the brighter screen, but if this happens I dont know if I want to anymore.

This glitch occurs when playing the game on the DS as well. It's just shoddy programming I think.

I've reached level 3 or 4 on my DS. No problems besides me getting my ass kicked.

I just found this game (finally) at Wal-Mart for $15 (very well worth it).

I've made it to Mission 3 on my DS Lite thus far, no glitching at all. It rocks. I wish they'd release the anthology for DS like they are on the PSP.

IIRC, the glitch has something to do with the D-pad. The regular GBA and GBA SP D-pad cannot be pressed down in the middle, so it can only register two directions of movement at one time. The GBA SP2, however, has a D-pad that can be pressed down at the middle. The game freezes up if you press more then two directions on the D-pad at once (I.E. press the middle down).

Maybe you're playing a bootleg version of the cart? I remember seeing a ton of them on Ebay a year or two ago. Seems like a lot of GBA bootlegs have some kind of problems with them like saving or graphics.

My copy I got from TRU doesn't have this problem though.

Negative. This copy of Metal Slug was purchased brand new at Walmart.
