This is kinda two questions in one...

I know that with the old gamepads, if you tried to fork them, you end up losing half the buttons on each controller... is they any way to fork them without losing buttons? or just accept the fact there were flaws in the old technology and embrace USB Gamepads?
I assume you'll all say embrace USB, but I'm just curious IF there was a way of doing it...

But my MAIN question here is... is there any emulator for any console/handheld system that allows for multiplayer gaming (whether it be two player alternating ala Super Mario Bros., two player co-opertaive ala Ren & Stimpy; Stimpy's Invention, or two player Head to Head ala Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter II) that will run over a TCP/IP network?

Mainly cause I think it would be cool to be able to challeng a friend to a round of MK or work our way thru Mario World even they dont live around me.
