I say yes, especially if it's an import. There are a lot of awesome Japanese games that make it a great system.

That is a great price. Definately go for it since I loved playing the Virtua cop games at the arcade plus the sonic isn't bad. Also house of dead 1 is good for light gun games. If your into rpgs, get panzer dragoon saga, dragon force and shining force. If your into platform games, there basically like playstation except for some unique ones like Bug. If your into shooters, buy a cheap gameshark and your able to play all the cool japanese shooters.

Holy crap... someone is post-happy. x_x

I vote yes. Any system is good if it's cheap and works.

Don't forget Fighters Megamix, one of the best fighting games ever created. And the only one where you can play as the car from Daytona USA.

NiGHTs is a must.

I used to love Saturn like no other -- I'd say it's a good, solid system. These days I do feel it's a bit overrated by the Saturn fans, but go figure. However, it's still a system worth getting and investing in. You definitely want to branch out eventually and mod it so you can play JP and even PAL games. (there are a few PAL exclusives worth checking out, like Swagman, Z, etc.)

Yes,Saturn is a great arcade console and a well decent 3d console, easy to modify for imports, plus you can watch VCD's on it if you get a Japan Saturn Video Card. BTW there are only 3 Sonic Games for Saturn, would have been 4 but yea.

Man, if you like shooters, and can figure out a way to play imports, then the Saturn is an absolute dream of all dreams. No question about it. There are so many incredible Saturn games in Japan that never made their way over here. There are alot of very good U.S. games too. The Saturn is like an undiscovered reservoir of gaming goodness!

Here are some of the best Saturn games I've ever played, and this is only U.S. games:

1. Sega Rally Championship - pure fucking power.
2. Darius Gaiden - incredible shooter. Top of the freaking line.
3. Daytona USA - graphics have some issues, but the gameplay is unreal!!!
4. Virtua Fighter - I prefer the original game, in all it's glitchy glory.
5. Astal - breathtaking visuals and superp soundtrack
6. Panzer Dragoon - same as Astal
7. Bug - Often taken for granted, Bug was a pretty amazing pseudo 3d platformer
8. Street Fighter Alpha 2 - pretty amazing arcade translation
9. Galatic Attack - Another incredible shooter
10. Powerslave - best Doom type game on Saturn

Of course, there are tons of other U.S. games to consider, and that's only US games. When you add Japan into the mix, the Saturn actually has much more going on for it than the Nintendo 64!!!

Yes. For my taste (and I have almost only imports for th Saturn BTW), it makes the PS look like a waste of time, soace, plastic, etc.

However, that said, Radiant SIlvergun is nowhere near worth the $$$ it costs.

Treasure is a great developer, but I have never understood the Treasure cultists.

Some Treasure games are fantastic, other are rather flawed (RS falls into thsi category IMO).

It is overrated as hell. People will tell you I am full of crap, but I honestly am not sure I could recommend paying $60 for RS, let alone a couple hundred. Of course, if some crazy person offers to sell it for that, buy it anyway then sell it.

RS is worth having because it is interesting and graphically very nice. just not worth paying loads of cash for.

Guardian Heroes is good, but also not worth what people will try to charge for it. Ditto for PD Saga (the shooter ones are better, despite what people will tell you, not that they are trying to mislead you, it's just that I think people who actually tried to go the domestic route with the Saturn tend to overrate some of the things we actually got over here.

SForce 3, IMO, however is not overrated at all and I think it is playable in JP (much cheaper version) for non JP readers, though it is hard to tell for sure because I never played any JP SForce games before I could read some JP.

LOL "Now entering, THE CAR!!!1eleven!11"

Ya, many great games on the system, tis one of the reasons I want to collect most of the games on it. I can't believe there's a-n-o-t-h-e-r post on getting this sytem. It's like we need a sticky of "What systems are worth buying, and what just suck", and in any case it's worth it to get most of them anyway, especially if you see a great price.

I've seen this sell with just Bomberman many times on ebay. The Saturn version is very popular, though I have yet to find a copy.

Small number of US rpgs, but they are all worthwhile. Shooters, espeacially imports, seem to be a big draw which I will investigate one of these days.

I feel the Saturn has the most arcade-like feel of any console (well maybe not the Neo Geo), which is a good thing for me.

Not even going to mention the RGB.

If I had not bought both of those games as soon as they came out and needed them, I'd be willing to pay $200 each. Guardian Heroes w/4 - 6 players is one of the best experiences I've ever had. That game has given me countless hours of joy. Panzer Saga is one of the most immersive and creative RPGs ever made. For me it was amazing because it never got boring. You don't spend hours upon hours building up levels fighting the same guys. It's more like playing a movie.

It's worth buying a Saturn just to play either one of those games.

Hell, it's worth the system alone just to play Virtua Cop.

I know some people wil hate me for this one but, one of my favorite mech games was on the Saturn. Remember Gungriffon?? I played this game for hours on end and after I beat it I played it 3 more times. In my book thats a great game. Then again I am a huge mech fan and I do own Steel Battalion for the Xbox so perhaps I am biased.

While I have to agree that Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun are way way over-priced and over-rated, I don't think Guardian Heroes is at all. I see it for $60 quite often which is a great deal for one of the best beat'em ups ever.

Also, I'd tend to say that domestic Saturn releases are drastically *UNDER*rated not overrated. I mean, whenever anyone asks for opinions on the Saturn, 4 out of 5 people will always say that it's a great system because of the imports, but then look at the games people actually recommend and most of them were released in the U.S. I think the Saturn has a domestic library that easily puts it in the same league of greatness as the SNES or Dreamcast. And while, sure, you can get even more good games if you import that's really true of all systems, but for some reason the Saturn has developed this import-or-be-bored stigma.

I believe this as well. All of my games are domestic here in North America and love them. There's plenty of great games to choose from and worth buying. I'm not saying it's a horrible system to import, just that there should be more respect for what is already here.

A Saturn is worth getting.

The Search function (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/search.php) is worth using.

Clogging the top page with a bunch of the same posts (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86443) is frowned upon.

1. Sega Rally Championship - pure fucking power.

US Sega Rally Championship is incomplete, get the later released Japanese version instead. I don't want to get into the details so I'll go for an obvious one. The "Mountain" stage is missing its mountain backdrop.

Hell, YES!

Saturn is a great system -- I am mad at myself for overlooking its goodness during its active lifespan in favor of the PSX -- now I am making up for lost time :)

Totally, unquestionably recommended.

Bah, you don't need a Saturn to play it. You can always get the game.com version instead LOL
