FORS YARD

Hi guys!

I just wanted to pop in and let anybody who's interested know that I've finally finished the 1993 section of FORS YARD, my Sega Genesis history website. I know some users on this board had been waiting for an update, so I hope this message won't be considered spam.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading the update. Any comments/corrections etc. are welcome :)

Looks pretty cool. Plans on adding '94 anytime soon, or placing an additional section that contains in chronological the releases of games for the system, or games that made the biggest impacts on the gaming community?

Thanks for the feedback! The 1994 section probably won't be ready for a while yet, but in the meantime I plan to add a bit of material to the other parts of the site.

As it stands, the games covered on FORS YARD are listed in a sort of semi-chronological order, but for now at least I'm only covering games that I have print ads for so I'm not terribly concerned about being comprehensive. The idea is to give the reader a sense of what a particular year in the lifespan of the Genesis was like. If someone needs a comprehensive list of games, there are already sites out there that have that kind of info.

Regarding the impact of the games, if I happen to think a game was particularly influential or significant I try to point that out in my pithy descriptions :)

I have a pretty extensive collection of 90s gaming magazines to use, but I'll keep your offer in mind :)

Yep, Gunstar Heroes was indeed released in 1993. I made a few fleeting references to it in the 1993 section, but unfortunately Sega didn't advertise the game so I don't have a print ad for it...

Nice work! Perfect time to let you know how excellent your site is. I have read and reread it many times. Really accomplishes what you set out to do. I am one of those people who have a strong sentimental attachment to that era of gaming, especially the days of the black grid boxes, and Fors Yard takes me there. Thank you!

Ditto on loving your website. I consider you to be one of the original chronogamers. Even if you're not "playing" them in order, you give visitors the opportunity to appreciate the evolution of the games on a system. Great site, great idea.

I really liked your tribute video (i saw it before you re-did the video for better quality).

It got me hooked on that song from "Nights".
