Hey everyone, as you might have seen in me and parpunk scores post, me and him found a Nintendo Power 100 Gameboy Pocket this weekend, which is in gold. If anybody can shed some light on this gameboy I would appreciate it. I'm almost thinking that is was a special release of the gameboy pocket that nintendo power did for the magazine, but i'm not sure, i've never seen anything like this, and i can't find one on ebay. So any infomation on this would be great. Thx and enjoy the pics !!!!!!!!!!!!

I recall them giving away pins that looked like that...wonder if someone just glued it to the game boy...

yeah, it almost looks like it was glued on... something Nintendo would've never done.

EDIT: Yeah, Ed, now that you mention it, I remember seeing that in the NP catalog... good days... yep.

My '97 issue (august I think) of Nintendo Power has the ad for these. Eh. Probably not super common. I kinda wish we could return to the days when NP actually offered cool merchandise like this that didn't break the bank, no?

I'm 99% sure that these weren't glued on. My other friend that got one(parpunk) has all of the Np mags, i'm going to go ahead and ask him too and we will get a pic out of the ad and compare them side to side. Anybody know the value of one of these or a little bit more of a background?

Honestly this doesnt look like a scam at all. When we bought them they werent being sold by a collecor. actually the guy that was selling everything had no idea what he was selling but claimed his buddies buddy got it all at a warehouse or something. Plus they are this bronzey goldish color (not silver) i didnt think they made gameboy pockets in this sort of color. Its very strange and i have never seen one. i wonder if they are worth some big bucks?

Yes, they are a bronzish (actually I thought it was supposed to be gold, from the picture in the NP issue) color, not silver. The 100 is celebrating the 100th issue of Nintendo Power.

Yeah, I remember this being featured in NP Issue 100 along with the Super Power Supplies Catalog that was released during that time. This label was featured also on the Gold Colored Nintendo 64 controler as well. Weren't there several other NP100 themed items besides this Gameboy Pocket and the N64 controller? I have the issue, but I've lost all NP Catalogs.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly, but a baseball cap was likely one of them (at least one variety).

Okay to clear this up. Two ways of obtaining this.

1. Win the contest from Nintendo Power issue # 100.
2. Order it from the Nintendo Power supplies catalog.

Cool? Yes. Rare? Well it's pretty uncommon. Worth a lot of money? Not a ton. A GameBoy Pocket Light will still fetch more.

cool thanks man!

On the last page of Issue 101 from NP it shows where you could have bought this.>
