Yeah, I'll be getting this one for sure. I'm a little mad I didn't pre-order it so I'll have to wait till the 6th, but that's only a day away.

If you get a chance to play post your thoughts on it. I'm wondering how well it made the jump from handheld to home console, but for $19.99 you really can't go wrong.

Also it's on sale at Circuit City this week for $14.99, and the ad said it will be in store on the 6th after 5pm.

EDIT: I just saw the trailer for it on IGN and it's pretty cool, especially the jazzed up italian music.

I'll likely get this at some point, maybe when I get farther in SA and feel like playing another GTA. Wanna read the reviews first as well, of course.

I'll be buying this the second I see a copy for sale. New story + Liberty City = win. :)

Wow, $20?

Good price, but..

Is it just a striaght port of the PSP version? Or is it graphically updated?

There's a good discount on this one at work and it's a GTA game so I will defenitely be buying it. It will probably be the next game I start. I'm gonna swing by the Best Buy near metro after my work meeting tomorrow.

....And I am liking it better than gta3 so far, based on the addition of motorcycles alone. More side missions here as well, and it looks better than gta3, in my opinion. definite buy here, even if you're just a fan of driving around liberty city.

Sounds good, I like the sound of having extra side missions.

I'll be picking it up once I get caught up on some games.

Only $20? Frickin' sweet. Kind of a slap to the face for those that paid $50 for it on the PSP, though. I still haven't even come close to finishing GTA: SA, though. Ah well. This will be bought.

I would rather have this game on the PSP. I wonder if it will go GH any time soon, now that it is out on the PS2 for such a cheap price.

I repeat my question, is it graphically improved? I think it is since it took so long to come on the PS2, But i'd like this question answered.

To simply sum up the port: same textures and higher resolution due to differences between the PSP Vs. PS2 methods of view. It has the same enhanced features* as Vice City but set in GTA III's Liberty City. Visually its not as nice as San Andreas but fuck it's only $20.

enhanced features = better aiming system, motorcycles (WEEEEE!), the ability to jump from moving vehicles, and an increase in the amount of side missions.

It's great so far! I'm nearly done with portland's main story and I completed the "car salesman" side mission which gives a nice sum of money now ;D. While nowhere near as in depth as SA, it's still a great deal of fun at an unbeatable price!

It's kind of funny...brady games tried to cheat with the guide. They reprinted the exact same damn guide WORD FOR WORD only with the white cover. Funny enough, two days beforehand, the "Psp Only" guide was pennied out where I work, so I snagged that and a few others that were junkout.

I got in a little playtime earlier today and I smiled the whole time. It's cool because it's a new story, but in a familiar place.

The graphics and all the additions are pretty nice. I got it on sale for $15.75 and it's worth every cent, it's a steal at $20 as well.

The pictures have all been re-taken. But the text is word-for-word, as you said. Must have saved them a ton of money on layout design. Some of the tones and colors are brighter with the PS2 guide.

As for the game, I'm kinda scratching my head at the lack of music. Like each station has 40 minutes or am I just crazy? Can someone else verify this for me? It feels much less than SA's number of songs per radio station. I'm guessing that less was more for the UMD.

I just got the game and some screens from R* today. I have requested some screens with the HUD turned on. But here is a comparison for you on the graphics:

http://www.breakingwindows.com/assets/images/GTA%203.jpg

http://www.breakingwindows.com/assets/images/LCS%20PSP.jpg

http://www.breakingwindows.com/assets/images/LCS%20PS2.jpg

I have played all three versions today for comparison. Graphically, there is not a huge difference.

The PSP version is crisp because of the screen size.

LCS PS2 gets some of the GTA III Xbox graphical enhancements, but not much.

Because LCS PSP did not have the presentation of GTA III, the PS2 port of LCS also lacks that nice presentation.

But with more side missions that GTA III, widescreen support for HDTV, targeting enhancements, and that $20 price tag, I think it will sell pretty well.

But lets face it, the GTA series has never been about graphics. If you really want to bitch, take a look at those oven mitt hands!

I haven't timed the stations or anything, but yeah, there isn't much compared to SA. I'm in Staunton and I'm already pretty tired of the music because I've heard it all. There is also not very much variety in the commericals (one of my favorite part sof the GTA radio).

I'm not really complaining too much tho - I got the game for $18, the missions are fun and the story is great for a GTA geek like me.

What a great buy for $14.99. I was so upset when this was announced for PSP. That was the only reason why I wanted a PSP. I'm so glad i waited. This game rocks.

I've just been able to play it for the past few days, and it's amazing how much more fun LC is to travel around in by motorcycle. I don't like some of the voice acting changes though. Maria really loses a lot due to the cast change.

agreed

GTA 3 was always my favorite GTA game and LCS is now my favorite tied with SA.

Its just that when Im in the settings of GTA 3 it "feels" more like the real Grand Theft Auto , but thats just my opinion and I will admit to being biased towards GTA 3 in a very bad way.

the motorcycles and added sidequests make this what I always thought GTA 3 could have been after playing Vice City.

I think the voice work is solid as is the story but could have benefited -and I cant believe im going to write this- from *gasp* a few celebrity voices-i.e more well known actors like vice city and SA had.

Too bad some reviewers gave the game a some low rating -IMLOOKINYOURWAY GAMESPOT  - but its a great game and I think that more of the "younger" reviewers have blind bias and think of SA as a gift from the gods as SA seems to be getting slightly more and more overrated as time goes on- although it is a GREAT game.

well, I gave it a 4.... out of 5.

It is a solid game, tarnished by the fact that it has to compete with such a massive library on the PS2. The price tag helps too.

I agree, having the original cast would have been better. Of course using the original character model of Tony would have made sense too. But apparently Michael Madsen was busy that day

I guess Rockstar did not think it would do so well on the PSP. I mean, it helped when the homebrew hacks were written to exploit it, of course, but still. The game sold well. And I bet it will sell well at $20 for the PS2.

Strangely it's not selling well at all at my work. The same 10 copies have been out for two days and we have over 100 in the warehouse. It was fun, but pretty short. I didn't like the sidequests in this one that much. I loved the rampages though, those were highly entertaining.

It seems to have sold well enough in my area.

The local Walmart had probably 15 copies when it first shipped on thier shelf and now they have maybe 4 at the most.

Also my local Hastings -a record/video/bookstore- had at least 20 copies 1 week ago and now has maybe 5.

But yea it hasnt sold anything like SA or Vice City before it but Im sure its has already made enough profit to warrant Rockstars investment in a quick port and publishing it for PS2.

I still think its a Solid GTA game and well worth the asking price nonetheless.

I'll probably wait until this hits the $9.99 bin. I just see it as GTA III with GTA SA elements etc etc. It's cool yes, worth my complete time for weeks? Probably not, but we'll see when the price is under 10 bucks.

something I noticed today is that the local hastings is selling USED copies of GTA:SA for $11.99 and USED copies of Vice City for $14.99 to $20.00 strange

Although SA seems to sell through every copy everytime they have a stock of them for sell used or new.
