Is this real? Or some clever trickery?

So this bug and -1 world only in the original NES releases of the cart (or SMB/DH)? Or are they on the SNES Mario All-Stars version of SMB too?

Ah ha. I never saw that bug before. Strange.

I don't know about this glitch, but minus-world doesn't work on Super Mario All-Stars. You can still do it, but the pipes just take you to worlds 4, 3 or 2 like they're supposed to. By the way, I don't see this mentioned often, but if you do the minus-world trick, but go into the second pipe instead of the first, you'll go to world 5 (the third pipe, again, takes you to the same minus-world).

The key to this bug shown in the video, in case you couldn't tell, is to hit the ax at the exact same time Bowser hits you. I've never been able to get it to work myself.

another little known fact, if you do the -1 glitch in the fds version of the game, you go to a completely differnt world which has some very strange shit in it
like floating princess toadstools and other strangness.

It was big in the NIntendo Powers way back. I'll see if I can find which ones.

Ah ha. I never saw that bug before. Strange.

Ditto. I remember the small Fire Mario glitch/bug but never, ever saw that one before.

All the bugs/glitches in SM All-Stars were removed. A shame, really. :(

what makes it more interesting, you can complete several "new" stages after -1

Huh?

Anyway, lots more detailed info about everything here (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/smb_bugs.shtml). (They didn't fix everything in All-Stars!)

I've heard of this bug many times, but I'm not positive I've ever seen it in action. Stills, maybe.
