Was there ever a 400/800/XL/XE hard disk available? Would it be possible to build one?

There were a few different ones made (Supra, M-I/O, Black Box, Corvus) but typically they are expensive now for collectors. I think the myIDE interface is available. Do a search thru google and you should find info on it. I haven't really tracked the progress on it since I just use the ICD M-I/O which lets you hook up SCSI drives.

A MIO board is the best way to go. I know I'm looking for one so I can start up my Atari BBS.

Well shoot for a 1 meg one if you have the opportunity. You wouldn't think it makes that much difference but with a BBS you can put a lot of the most used files in the RAM disk where they are available pretty much instantaneously. 1 meg will take most of the message boards and such. A quick batch file executed once a day will back them up to your HD partition and reload them when you reboot the system. I use to run a BBS Express Pro node with my setup and it made a significant difference when I upgraded from a 256 to a 1meg M-I/O. Wish I hadn't sold off my old one back then tho,

I got a ton of Atari ST games up in the buying selling forum.
