View Full Version : Firmer inserts for cardboard box games.

I think we all know how bent up and smashed these can get... does an company make a type of hollow insert made of that dense, sturdy cardboard (almos woodlike) stuff for N64, NES, or GB/GBA boxes? Something that fits tight to reshape the box yet also keep it firm?

I don't mean to sound like I'm threadcrapping because that's not my intention here - but the original cartridges are what you should use if you're concerned about boxes being smashed. A full box is a strong box.

I keep them, of course, but the boxes can still get smashed/misshaped.
Balsa wood is along the right lines I guess, I was just wondering if any 3rd party company produced stronger inserts to help support the boxes better.

Sometimes with NES boxes I'll CAREFULLY unfold the box if there are wrinkles / dents, and let it sit flat with some heavy weight atop it for a week or so, then fold it back up and fill it with the styrofoam, game, booklet, etc.

I sell styros for NES games. :D They make the Nes game boxes more rigid. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in buying some.

He's got a point, if you have a game in the box, unless you stand on or put your TV on top of the box, it will be absolutly fine.
If, like me, you don't keep the games in the boxes to avoid ruining the manual everytime you get it out, then put a block of wood in there or your crap, loose games you don't want to play, I dunno.

I get the impression he is referring more to the cardboard trays that the cartridges (SNES and N64) sit in while inside the box. About 75% of the time I ever get boxed SNES games, they are missing this tray.

In fact, that one has instructions for assembling them from cardstock yourself.
