So who has a DS Lite already?

I don't need to hear from any "darkies" here :P

Although I got my review unit late, I did get it before the "official" street launch. You know, not to June 1.

This is after my first day with the DS Lite:

considerably lighter than DS Fat
the lowest brightness is brighter than the DS Fat
colors are quite vivid, greens and yellows especially
much better design of the unit, not clunky like the old one
speaker placement is better, in between the two screens
4th brightness settings will now be known as "Retina Burn"

Just to prove that I am not a Sony fanboy, even though I play one on TV, let me say this about the DS Lite screen.

At its brightest setting, it is rated at 5-8 hrs. battery life. It is brighter and cleaner than the PSP screen on its 4th setting, which you cannot get unless plugged into AC power (really dumb idea).

The DS Lite has brighter whites and blacker blacks.

There, now you can all hate me for giving the DS Lite some love. Njiska doesn't count, he hates me already.

You may find this Nintendo DS Lite thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79287) of interest.

It has pretty much covered the DS Lite since it was announced, through to its various territory releases. Plenty of opinion in there, as well.

Yes, I am well aware. Thanks. Seeing as it is out in the wild now, I wanted to get an impressions thread going. I will post my gripes in a little while, once I have had more sleep.

The old DS was awesome and even though I had no idea that the Lite was out yet......it will be awesomer. What color is it molded in? Just white? I had the red Mario Kart DS...which looked like shit IMO. I know that some DPers liked it but it looked like some cheap piece of crap from K-mart. LOL

I only got a chance to fiddle with the display unit at EB for a little bit. I loved the brightness levels, but was disappointed with the feel of the plastic, and it was a bit small for my hands...this is not unusual for a handheld though. Overall I did not think it was enough for me to upgrade, but I'll keep my eye opem for a preowned model...

Just bought a second PSP preowned for less after trades...

Makes me wonder if anyone is camping out for the DS Lite..

I'm considering trading in my DS "Fat" for a DS Lite, but the GBA cart sticking out is kind of a turn off. Despite me only having 1 GBA game (Tales of Phantasia), it just annoys me that it'll be sticking out like that. Taking it out is out of the question, it's the only GBA game I'll probably ever own, so taking it out may result in losing it/forgetting where I put it. This will remain until Earthbound2/Mother3 is ever released in the US/EUR, which doesn't seem very likely.

Since people have been posting their thoughts in the above thread, lets keep all DS Lite discussion to that thread.

I have had mine for over a week now, I don't know how I ever lived without it :P
