Take-Two is offering 3DRealms a $500,000 bonus if they get Duke Nukem Forever out by New Years Day.

http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=64268

I still don't see it happening. The game, or Take-two's bankrupt ass paying the money if it does manage to come out.

And if it does - it'll probably suck because it was rushed to market.

EDIT - And it seems someone has started a rumor that a 360 version is in development. LOL LOL

It's so sad. It's been like watching your strong uncle come down with alzheimers and slowly wither away.

I loved Duke 3d.

I would love it if they could finish it and get atleast an 8/10 at Gamespot. I really would love a 360 version. I have hopes for completion but I won't get to excited.

Have they even started developing the game at all? I mean, hasn't it been almost 10 years since it was announced? I'm surprised that anyone even cares anymore.

Forget 3D Duke, the first outing for him was invariably the best. Oh the memories, like zapping turkey to make it bigger.

If this actually does happen. I will buy two copies and eat one of them.

I'll even post it up on youtube =P I'm not sure how eating a cd would fare though =\ I'll definitely eat the box though. And the manual.

Well, if Duke Forever does ever see the light of day, it will have had the longest development cycle of any game..... ever. Almost 10 years it has been.

I think that, technically, Prey has been in development since before Duke Nukem.

I'll take a $500,000 reward to go into their base and steal what they have.

Well it took 10 years for a sequel to be released, but that was after Earthbound/Mother3 (or 64) was canned. Atleast we knew that the game actually existed, unlike DNF which exists as much as the Phantom does.

After 10 years.. this has become an oxymoron.

One other thing.. when are they gonna' change the frickin' name? That title has left itself open to TOO many jokes over the years.

Why even take these clowns seriously?

This reminds me of Chinese Democracy. The Guns N' Roses album that Axl Rose has been working on for the past 12 years and has cost over 13 million in production costs so far.

That more or less sums up my feelings on the situation too.

This is my favorite site about DNF:

http://www.duke4.net/content.php?content.15

Note the multiple page spread in PC Gamer in November 1997

Quote from the article:

"The GL Support in DNF will be optional; a 3D Realms game won't require a 3D card until Prey."

You aren't up on your DN:F are you? The game has been through many, many revisions, each of them nearing 50% completion. A lot of versions of this game have been demoed, meaning that something actually does exist. It's just that every 2 or 3 years, you'd hear from someone at 3DRealms that "We're starting over" I sure you can find a ton of screen shots, from all different versions of the game.

when/if this game ever does come out, i think i would buy a copy not only because i liked the first duke nukem 3d, but because its like a piece of history as the game that took the longest to make and the game that nobody thought would ever come out. The standards for first person shooters have changed drastically since the game was first announced. I think the times are changing faster than they are actually working on the game.

Oh it'll happen =)

If I don't have the money for it at the time, once I do I will eat it, and you will all see =D.

Maybe I can even get some of the film students at my school to record it. That way it'll be nice quality to.

The odd thing is that it probably will be rushed to the market and people will wonder how the hell that is humanly possible.

I remember several months ago, someone started a thread exclaiming something like, "FINALLY, DNF is coming out this year. They said so" And I'm thinking, "Are you really that gullible?"

The funny thing is that in racing circuits, DNF also stands for "Did Not Finish." You can say the same thing about 3D Realms and this game.

Speaking of games that've been delayed so long that it's a joke, did Starcraft: Ghost get officially cancelled, or is that thing still actually in development?

According to Gamespot, George Broussard says they won't rush it to market! That is hilarious, considering it is a mere 10 years into development. Here is the link:

I read an article a couple of moths ago (an interview with the developers) that said it was still coming out. There are rumors that it's being ported over to the new generation consoles.. but if I remember.. Blizzard said no. They said there MAY be a 360 release, but it won't be "reworked" for it.

It was canned back in december. They made the announcement in the middle of E3 to try to hide it. Basicly the game was rubbish and it wasn't worth throwing any more money at it.

It's funny. I took several pre-orders myself, when I worked at Babbages, shortly after the game was first announced, back in 2001. The store closed down in 2003.

Wonder if those people ever got their ten bucks back?

Even more deranged - I wonder how many people moved their reservation to another store, and are still waiting to this very day?

Ya never know...

I remember reading about "Prey" in pcgamer back in 1997 being the unreal killer. Look how long that one took. Then again...I also remember when Warcraft III was going to be a point and click adventure game with a gimp orc who had a ponytail.

I may have to record a video of me going in and asking to Reserve DNF XD Im starting to think that they locked the Development team and a room and said knock on the door when you are done. Problem is, they forgot the food, and the team has been dead since 1997.
