I think Konami should be on the list because Konami made tons of great games and Capcom should never be taken off.

I would say SNK but they longer exist, but their character designs were too damn good, very classic, Electronic Arts, Square, Enix, Treasure should be on that list too

Definitely add Electronic Arts to the list. Plus, Technos got left out too. Any company that brings us the adventures of Riki Kunio (River City Ransom, Nekketsu sports), is a swell company indeed.

I'm not sure if you mean companies that are still around or not, but if you're just asking for the companies that made the games that I've enjoyed the most in my lifetime then this would be my list. Its not in order, that would be too difficult.

First there's the obvious;

Atari - No explanation needed
Activision
Nintendo
Sega
Williams - Stargate is my Digital God

And then there's some which you might not find on everybody elses list

Infocom - Text adventures; Planetfall, Zork, etc...
Universal - Mr Do, Ladybug & others
Penguin Games / Polarware - Old Apple II & C64 game company
LucasArts
Sir-Tech - Wizardry!
Origin - Ultima!
Sierra On-Line (Notice the "On-Line" part)
The "Pre" EA Sports Electronic Arts - Bard's Tale
