This is insane and with five days left to go. Bronty, there are 3 sealed copies that are known to exist. This one, another that was sold on ebay a while back (yes, two have been sold on ebay, it's not the same one either), and the one at the Bandai building on display. Also, 3 known complete copies are also in existence that I know of - portnoyds, D_N_Gs, and the one that dl_collectibles sold. I'm hoping for the sake of all collector's that there is a warehouse full of these games at least CIB. I don't think I would pay 4-5k for this game ever. 3k if it's sealed but that's the max.

thetanone on ebay has a complete too. I don't think he is portnoyd or D_N_G, but he got it last summer for $500 from a lady who had a description in her listing as having a complete that she was planning to sell. He e-mailed her before I did and she took his $500 cash offer. He goes by the name Rick Smith and also is in possession of my M82 system I sold in order to help with making the down payment on the house I'm living in.

I don't think it changes anything either way. One other copy that no one knows the status of either way makes no difference.

Yeah, we agree on that point. From my point of view though tracking known copies is still a potentially useful excercise.

Meh. If Nick wins this, hopefully it comes back up for sale when nick needs bail money or something. ;)

I found it somewhere but don't remember where. I did a big search on sealed and complete copies of Stadium Events a while back trying to track them down. I will search for it again and see if I can find it. I'm pretty sure they are not the same ones.

He said in a post over at nesworld it was him who put in the high bid. He doesn't think he will win it with what he put in though.

Also, to clear up my previous post, the second sealed copy was not sold on ebay but in an online store. I did some research today and had to correct what I previously stated. I knew there was another and was thinking it too was sold on ebay.

I can just see someone winning this and not paying. Then the seller will just decide to hold onto it. *sigh* With the rate this auction is going, it's going to be one high priced game. If it goes over 5k, I don't see the person paying for unless it's someone like bronty or buyatari. Too many other "people" are placing their bids in but I think it's just for the glory.

Yes, I did bid on it but I just opened it up with $250 as the opening bid. I knew I was going to be outbid so I really don't think it matters. But some of these people are bidding hundreds of dollars I think without the intention of even winning

Always nice to know your bidding against people with no intention to pay. If that happens I think the seller will sell on one of the boards. Honestly he should have done so from the get go but if nothing else this gives him great advertising for the other auctions.

He is selling everything so he won't keep something worth this much no matter what happens.

Hounder
06-14-2006, 04:53 PM
Agreed. He would have sold it alot faster plus for a good amount to someone serious about it. As for Nick bidding that high, I have no clue. I guess just for the glory of it, don't know. If he does win, I highly doubt he will buy it.

I think someone should contact him and let him know that if he doesn't get it sold that he should come on the boards and offer it. He would such a better chance that way.

I'm somewhat new to collecting games, but this still blows my mind. I just got over the shock of seeing a complete Flintstones: Suprise At Dinosaur Peak go for $360 (that may not be a shock to anyone here, but I'm a bit on the cheap side), then I come across this. Man, I'm just speechless.

What makes it even more surreal are the extra scanned pictures. The creases on the corners of the box, the puncture hole in the back, the....whatever that brown stuff is on the upper-right hand corner on the back of the box, and it's still climbing toward the stratosphere at $3050 with almost 4 days to go. O_O

I praise everything that is Holy for the fact that I don't collect prototypes or sealed games. Just...wow. Too rich for my blood, as they say. :) That is all.

Nick Morgan retracted his bid! :D

almostgotthemall
06-16-2006, 06:04 PM
I had this happen to me before. The auction is at risk of collapsing.

Each retraction results in a new high bidder, someone who has already been outbid, and may no longer want it.

Ill wager meseta there will be more bid retractions.

Vectorman0

The price sort of makes sense, considering I would imagine it is rarer than an NWC but probably less sought after. And just like an NWC, you can't really predict where it is going to end.

Actually there is a very valid reason to proxy bid high at the very begining of an auction. With a high bid in the begining the seller gets clued in to the fact that this game is actually worth something. Meaning the seller is less likely to commit to a side deal seeing what the game is actually worth. Just my 2 meseta's

I could be dead wrong but I think most of the drama is over. I wouldn't be surprised if the final price is underwhelming compared to what it did in the first couple days. I mean, we are talking 3k+ for a beat up game. It's expensive already.

Yippee skippee. What part of 3k don't you understand?

No offense but that's the kind of thinking that led the game to being jacked up with fake bids. People see a sealed stadium events so they figure it must be worth ONE MEELION DOLLARS... as long as they aren't the ones paying for it at the end of the day.

Or else why all the hot potato retractions? What do you want to bet the current high bidder dearly wishes it wasn't the last 12 hrs of the auction right now? (i.e. no bid retractions)

Thanks guys I do appreciate the well wishes. I am going to arrange to pick this up shortly. Have already met with the seller once, he is a super nice kid.

I know I griped a lot before bidding, but consider this. A lot of the people I had to bid against probably had bids that weren't even legitimate. That sucks and that's why I was so pissed off these guys without real interest were bidding.

Then again, buyatari was gracious enough to bow out - without that I may not have won. THanks Adam.

Edit: A quick add up of Nintendo sales for the seller is over $16,000 X_x thats way cool!

I noticed the Family Fun Fitness pad ended at $425. Did anyone inquire as to whether it came with the pack-in game at all AND if it was also CIB? From his pics it looked like it was just the pad and main outer box.

Click on the first picture in his auction and you will see that the box says the following on it:

Basic Set (Control Mat and Athletic World Game Pak)

A similar description is on the back of the box in photo 2.

Also in photo 1, you will notice the tear where it looks as though someone has removed tape from the box. Probably not as MINT as he stated. Also, likely missing the game since it was not described in the listing.

Finally, if anyone wants to get thinking about possible other prototypes out there. It appears that FFF Volume 3 would have been the game that eventually became Dance Aerobics. Any thoughts on that?

if i recall correctly the fff pad never came with a pack in game. athletic world was sold cib at the same time as the fff pad release and then SE was released a short time later.

I've been through 3 of these U.S. NTSC CIB F.F.F. pads, and they all came with a complete in box Athletic World with the FFF logo. Like 8bitnes pointed out, it's stated on the box. Apparently, his was sold without the game which makes the final bid a testament to hype and advertising.

The box isn't even close to mint at all with edge wear, blunting, and creasing. How can he call it in mint??

And if you look at the pad closely, there are some ugly white nicks at all the fold points. Unfortunately, due to the material used and the age of the pad, the pad's color "chips" at any point where it is folded. I talk from experience. This is not a pad you want to unfold and fold repeatedly.

OT, but do other people do this too? I'd be too nervous leaving something like this or an nwc lying around for too long. To me it's well worth the few bucks you pay in fees.

I do it with unreplacable things. I think a Sealed NTSC Stadium Events would qualify for a safety deposit box. I'm sure other's do it as well. There are certain things in collections that are very valuable and impossible to replace. I guess a lot of people have private safes for their collectibles though. I just can't stand keeping things over a couple thousand at home. But then again I don't live in the type of neighbourhood to keep expensive things either.
