and bothered you most? (in terms of finally getting it)

This past week I finally got my hands on a SNES copy of Battletoads and Double Dragon.

Ever since I got back in the SNES this past January, I looked to buy this game, but it was never in that $7-$8 range of mine. I know, if I was willing to pay 3, 4 extra bucks I could have had owned it a lot earlier, but where's the fun in that?

It all started in March with me losing an auction for four complete SNES games, with BT/DD being one of them. I was sniped. I was pissed off, lol, but that's eBay!

Then in May, a board member was selling his copy for $7 shipped, but I was too late in PMing him. He offered to look around his area for another copy.

This past week, I finally got lucky. I guess everyone was sleeping, because this game usually gets bidded on quite a lot.

Heck, I was watching this auction and look at the noobs bid it up:

Anyway, that's my story about a common game that took me a damn while to get, and bugged me the most.

Final Fantasy 7

I put off buying the game for the longest time because I, well I don't really like it. Had the PC version when it came out and just wasn't all that thrilled with it. Compound my initial reaction which the insane amount of fanatism this title generates and I really was put off by buying it. Besides it's a common title and I saw it everywhere for $15.

Fast forward to what two months ago? And I'd managed to knock my PSOne want list down to Suikoden 2 and this damn game. Course Advent Children was just out and Final Fantasy 7 had sky rocketed on Ebay. Average price was something like $40. Well I didn't bite at $15 so I sure as hell wasn't ponying up $40.

Posted a few want threads on various forums, was laughed at by numerous traders on GameTZ. A friend contacted me over AIM and offered the game for $12 shipped. So little patience and I found a happy ending.

That happened to me with D2, nobody touched it for days and at the last minute someone sniped me. I know it was going to happen too and I was quite angry about it. Well I quickly found it on half.com and it was cheaper than the final bid, so I was happy about that.

I'm glad to see you finally found the game.

I had a hard time finding Silent Hill in the wild, atleast one that was complete and ended up paying a hellish price for it. I also had a bitch of a time finding Skies of Arcadia and then found it at my now favoriate EB games location.

Atari 2600 Realsports Tennis - which was the last R1 I needed to have all the R1 carts. It took me four or five months or looking for it in the wild before eventually giving up on the thrifts and getting it off of Ebay. This, in my mind, constituted a majot failure of patience on my part.

I'm still looking for the one that bothers me the most.. War 3010 for the SNES. I want a complete copy and don't want to pay more than 10 bucks for it (I'm cheap). I'm always outbid.

I was collecting for like, 3 years or something, before I picked up a copy of Super Mario World.

Also, I'd really like a complete PAL copy of Super Mario Kart, but don't want to spend more than $20.00AU

Those darn PlayStation Namco Museums! The DP guide says all five are common's I should find for $5 apiece. Easy enough for vol. 1 & 3, but the rest on Ebay are $50 crazy. I stumbled on a vol 5. in a pawn shop for $10 and was tickled pink to take it. I'm starting to doubt I'll ever have the complete set because I'm too cheap to cough up any more than that.

For me, it would have to be U.N. Squadron for the SNES. I was looking for it for a while and finally managed to get one at a GameCrazy a few months ago.

heh yep that's another one that took me a while to get.

Finally won one on eBay about 2 months ago for about $7.50, and wouldn't you know it the very NEXT day I saw it at Game Crazy for 4.99

Toe Jam and Earl for Genesis. Trade always turned down, always out bid on Ebay, lose interest but still don't have it.

Moto Racer:World Tour for Playstation. Loved the first two. Trades turned down?, when interested I can't find one complete on Ebay, bought only copy for Gamestop and it was scratched.

Guilty Gear and Diablo for Playstation. No sure what the rarity is on these but I can't ever find these in stores, people always want an arm and a leg for a trade, have watched dozens of auctions and seen them go for more than I would like to pay for or always miss the good prices.

Fatal Fury 2 and Final Fight 2 for Snes. Bought many lots and never goten it, so common nobody even lists them for trade, and never looked for them by themselves because i keep thing that I will get them in a lot or in a trade. I know that I'll get them and then I get them like crazy in lot auctions.

FF2 (errr, Fatal Fury 2) is a great port on the SNES. I remember buying this for a measly $4 (about its going rate) from a DP member here... the guy with the cool Lego set up.

I like it better than FF Special.

Conker's Bad Fur Day on N64. Kept holding off for a lower and lower price, eventually went "screw it" and shelled out the £20. Worth it though. :)

I still havent found one.

I finally found Darkstone the other day. It's like a scarcity of 1 and hadn't seen it in a store for well over a year! Was interested from the first time I saw it but didn't want to pay the high price tag Gamestop put on it at the time. All in all, it was nice to finally get it and lives up to what I expect and am quite suprised it doesn't still go for that high price GS put it for because it is that great of a game.

Samba De Amigo been looking for more then a year, and no luck. Final US DC game I need and no freaking luck. Mostly becoue I refuse to paymore then $20 for it. Used to see it in stores for like $10 $12 bucks and figured since I would see it all the time I could hold off on buying it. WRONG!

Strider 2 for the PSone, simply because I wanted the NTSC-J version. I could have got a PAL release for a fiver, but I wanted the import version. After missing an Ebay auction for a copy that finished at about £12 (due to stonedness) I was determined to get the Jpn version. Took a while but I got one for £20 inc. shipping. Bonus.

Also Mickey Mania and Earthworm Jim for the Mega CD. I refused to pay more than a fiver for PAL MCD games. So I didn't, just took a little waiting.

I still don't have SNES Mario All-Stars.

I would say "Ducktales" on NES. This was one game I just could not find locally. I grew tired of always getting beat out for copies on Ebay a few years ago, so I bid on two copies and ended up winning both auctions two days apart.

Maybe it is just me but it is a good thing I have all the Ninja Turtles games for the NES, because I never see any of them in my travels, outside of Ebay.

Astro Warrior for SMS. Not the combo cart, but just plain ol' Astro Warrior.

I'll bet I'm not the only one, either.

I had to search two years for a copy of Jade Cocoon. I played it a few hours and got bored. Kinda disappointing.

Also, today I was lucky enough to find longbox Skeleton Warriors, even though it's common.

It took me a long time to find Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. I didn't outright look for it, as most times it was overpriced at the local vendors, but one day I found it for a fair price and felt a little relief in knowing my NES castlevania collection was complete. Contra took me awhile to secure too. I ended up getting two copies in the same month without realizing it. I could have sworn that I didn't buy it.

I still don't have a sealed (I say that only because that's 99% of what I collect, I do have a loose copy) super mario 3. I just feel its the most common title in the entire library sealed so there's always something better to spend the money on :)

heh yeah don't sweat it you're not alone I bought Bionic Commando twice in May. I was like d'oh! The funny thing the game came in the mail on a Saturday, I opened the box and saw THE GUARDIAN LEGEND on top (I bought 4 games total, TGL, Adventure Island, Jackal and BC)

But I was in such a rush to get out of the house and to the flea market I didn't check the other games.

After I bought BC from the vendor for $5 I drove home going "waitasec...."

Got home, grabbed the box, looked at the other games and sure enough there was BC on the very bottom.

OH **** I thought :P

NES Contra is one I'm still in need of getting. I don't want to pay the $12+ average at the moment though. Waiting patiently to hopefully score one for $8 or less. A la Battletoads and Double Dragon ;)

Took me awhile to find a copy of Buffy the vampire slayer for Xbox. Of course, i'm asking at EB if they had any copies one week, They have a loose copy. I didn't buy it. The next week they have a copy of it with the box! $10, i buy.

Also, it took me a year and 6 months or something like that to find a sega saturn. It was the first one i ever saw in person, but it was priced higher than i wanted to pay. I bought it anyway, $30 for it and 3 games.. Turned out to be free.

I still do not own a SMB/DH cart. Mainly since owning a loose cart is like me owning a playstation game - very rare. I do have the manual for the game though.

I still need about 30 R1 or 2 for the NES (considering I only need about 200 more games, that a lot), but it's mostly because I don't want to shell out the money when I see them.
