surprisingly, the game was quite fun in co op. The single greatest flaw of the game was the partner AI (or lack thereof!) and the extremely high chance that no matter what you did, they would probably find a creative way to kill themselves.
Save system wasn't too great, but IIRC it was fixed in v1.2, and I admit that the first episode was pretty weak overall...but yea... good co op fun. Deathmatch was fun, too.

that may be true, but I only have the N64 version :( It's not THAT bad. but it's still pretty horrible.

Oh my, the N64 version was not very good at all :(
IIRC the N64 version did have one distinct advantage: the horribly directed cutscenes from the PC version were replaced with still shots in the N64 version. Thank. God. Given the talant that was available to Romero at that time, it boggles my mind how something like camera direction in the cutscenes got so fucked up (especially when you consider how great quake movies had gotten by that point).
It's a shame Daikatana brought down the whole studio. Anachronox was a great game. Someone needs to throw a shit load of money Tom Hall's way so he can do a sequel :(

Haha, I remember reading Tom Hall commenting that the AI was very smart ("I tried to get the AI to lose me by jumping down an elevator shaft...nope!" to paraphrase). Hillarous in retrospect. Wish I could find it to quote...
